Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701

The big-screen Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 has its shortcomings, but it's hard to resist this GeForce RTX-based gaming laptop's frame-pushing prowess, advanced feature set, and sleek-looking design.

Thin, sleek design. Great-looking display with G-Sync and a 144Hz refresh rate. Gaming powerhouse with its RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics card. Plenty of storage and ports.

17-inch size is too unwieldy to be very portable. Bottom ventilation flap seems fragile. Not an enormous improvement from equivalent GTX cards.

Bottom Line: The big-screen Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 has its shortcomings, but it's hard to resist this GeForce RTX-based gaming laptop's frame-pushing prowess, advanced feature set, and sleek-looking design.

Asus ROG Zephyrus GX701 review: New Nvidia RTX graphics give this laptop a lift

To cool the new Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card inside, the Asus Zephyrus lifts and opens its rear panel.

One of the first laptops available with the latest Nvidia RTX graphics cards. Incredibly slim and light for a 17-inch gaming laptop. Clever volume scroll wheel and new per-key RGB lighting.

The touchpad is awkwardly shifted off to the right side. When gaming, the system gets hot and the fans get loud. The vented rear panel may not appeal to everyone.

Asus fits a larger screen and the newest GPU on the block into the slim Zephyrus GX 701, but at the cost of battery life and ergonomics.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 review – from the pioneers of thin and light gaming

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 review: the king is dead, long live the king!

A god-level gaming laptop, the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 delivers incredible power in a lithe, hyper-premium package

Simply incredible gaming power ; Luxe and innovative build ; Very portable and thin design ; Superb 17-inch screen with narrow bezels ; Runs relatively quiet despite hardware

Very high price point ; Cramped keyboard ; Battery life is short

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 review

Slim, light and packed with power

Brilliant performance ; Gorgeous design ; Easy to carry ; Fantastic 17-inch screen

Very expensive ; Short battery life ; No LAN port

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is one of the best gaming laptops ever made, but the high level of performance and gorgeous thin and light design comes at a very high price, which makes it unaffordable for many people.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 review: A fantastic 17in gaming laptop with a fantasy price tag

This elite Max-Q gaming laptop packs an 8th-Gen chip and the latest GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, but is it really worth all that cash?

Slimmer bezels, bigger display ; Top-notch gaming performance ; Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 (Max-Q)

Too expensive ; Flimsy base panel ; Touchpad is too small

With that said, those fortunate few who can comfortably afford the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 will no doubt enjoy it immensely. If you can’t stump up the requisite fee but can spare £1,600 for the HP Omen 15 or, better yet, £2,300 for the Acer Predator...

Asus Zephyrus S GX701GX Review – The Incredible Vanishing Bezel

When we reviewed the Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501VI back in June 2017 we were taking our first look at Nv It's a very sleek laptop from ASUS ROG, packing RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics. Is it worth £3200?!

High performance with Core i7-8750H and RTX 2080 Max-Q.

Poor battery life.

We love the engineering in Zephyrus GX701 and it performs superbly. It has a few minor niggles, but it is overall an excellent gaming laptop.
