Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 review: hot specs and hot air

More of the same from Asus.

Excellent performance in creative applications ; Improved battery life ; Incredibly quiet in silent mode

Gets surprisingly hot and loud when under load ; There are better alternatives for gaming ; Underwhelming speakers

Asus returns with another high-end 16-inch laptop aimed at creators that bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor. This model brings some improved hardware to the table but not much else.

Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) review: A lovable gaming laptop

Prepare to dote over Asus' brilliant ROG Zephyrus M16

Superb performance ; Engaging 16-inch display ; Nice keyboard and touchpad ; Immersive audio ; Sleek, compact form factor

Expensive and varied availability ; Average 720p webcam ; Gets hot

Thanks to its sleek, off-black sheen and Asus’ signature dot matrix design, along with a dazzling 16-inch display and RTX 3070 Ti GPU, it’s difficult not to marvel at the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16.

Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022)

Can the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 bridge the gap between 15.6in and 17.3in gaming laptops, or does it fall through the cracks?

Good-looking, lightweight design ; Capable mainstream gaming ability ; Solid display and responsive keyboard ; Fast, versatile processor

Often hot and loud ; Rivals are quicker ; No alternative display options

The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 is slim, good looking and fast, with solid gaming and CPU performance. It’s often hot and loud, though, and you’ll certainly find more performance if you’re willing to use a thicker, heavier notebook instead.

Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603ZW (2022) review: A Prime Day discount on an excellent gaming laptop

A powerful laptop with a strong lean towards gaming, the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) is an impressive all-rounder

Incredibly fast ; Light for a gaming machine ; Superb 165Hz 19:10 display

Battery life is uninspiring ; Fans are noisy at full speed

The M16 can't match the Apple MacBook Pro as an all-round workstation, then. It runs pretty loud and battery life isn't nearly as good, but if you're looking for a powerful gaming machine that can also do a bit of work on the side, then the M16 does...

Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) GU603Z review: Huge processing power you can carry with you | IT PRO

The Zephyrus M16 combines a potent 14-core processor with capable graphics and features in a bag-friendly format

Supreme CPU performance ; Capable GPU ; Fast 2TB main storage ; Bright, colourful 16in display ; Thunderbolt 4 and USB C connectivity ; USB Type A ports

No professional-grade graphics option ; Slower professional 3D results than expected
