ASUS Transformer Book T100 review: a Windows tablet with netbook roots

With cheap build quality and a mediocre display, the T100 is far from perfect. But thanks to some solid performance and generous pricing, it still offers incredible bang for your buck.

Solid performance, long battery life ; Runs traditional desktop apps ; Screen offers good viewing angles ; Inexpensive, includes keyboard dock ; Almost no bloatware

Cramped, flimsy keyboard ; Cheap build materials ; We wish the screen were brighter

We wouldn't necessarily like the T100 if it weren't for its extraordinarily low price: It looks and feels like a netbook, with a tacky plastic shell, middling display and cramped keyboard. Still, it offers solid performance for the money, allowing you...

Asus Transformer Book T100 review: It's a Netbook, it's a tablet, it's an awesome deal

You will have a hard time beating the $379 (or less) price for this compact 10-inch Windows 8.1 laptop-tablet: this might be the Chromebook killer.

The ; runs full Windows 8.1, comes with a keyboard, has great battery life, and is a steal if you can find it for $350.

The cramped keyboard feels like an old Netbook's used to; not as fast as zippier, larger, more expensive Windows products; display not that vibrant.

The Asus Transformer Book T100 revives the Netbook value proposition (and Netbook usability issues) in a budget-price 10-inch laptop that doubles as a tablet. You won’t love it, but for sheer bang for the buck, it’s hard to beat.

Asus Transformer Book T100 vs T200: Battle of the Budget 2-in-1

The Asus Transformer Book T100 and T200 are remarkably similar, but have some key differences, so matched them up so you can figure out which one to buy.

Cheap ; New processor for better multitasking\ ; Small and lightweight ; Great battery life

Cramped keyboard and touchpad ; Limited ports and no expansion options

At the end of the day, the Asus Transformer Book T100 and T200 are largely identical 2-in-1 laptops with some differences that may be significant to some users.

Asus Transformer Book T100 Review

The Asus TransformerBook T100 offers users an affordable convertible notebook option. Equipped with Windows 8.1 the device is capable of handling basic tasks and programs without the steep price point seen from other 2-in-1's. However, will the low...

This entry level machine comes in compact 10.2-inch unit that can be easily carried in a purse or a satchel. The 2-in-1 laptop/tablet device runs on Windows 8.1 and is installed with Windows Office 2013. Note, however, that users must activate the...

Asus Transformer Book T100 review: Bringing the netbook back, almost

Intel's Atom steals the show, as Bay Trail outperforms.

The Asus Transformer T100 has three players in its story: Windows 8.1, Intel, and Asus. For Microsoft’s Windows 8.1, the biggest competition comes not from Google or Apple, but from the hundreds of millions of PCs already running Windows 7, Vista, and...

Asus Transformer Book T100 review: The low-cost hybrid that started it all

The Transformer Book T100 was the first cheap, capable Windows 8 hybrid - but it's had its time in the sun

While Microsoft is still trying to convince everyone that Windows RT devices are the spiritual successor to the netbook, Intel has made its feelings clear – ARM isn’t welcome to a piece of the Windows action.

Quality build

Screen does not tilt far back enough

The T100 Chi seems a decent tablet, but is really no more than that. You would probably be better off just buying an iPad and adding a bluetooth keyboard as you won’t want to be using the T100 Chi as your main laptop device.

Asus Transformer Book T100 Chi

Best specification for an ultra portable laptop at this price point. Premium looks and apparent build quality. Keyboard has its own battery so has no drain on the tablet battery.

Keyboard charges separately, but no second charger, however keyboard charge lasts a lot longer than the tablet so this may not prove to be an issue.
