Asus Zenbook Flip 14 UX461UN review

The Asus ZenBook Flip 14's svelte chassis belies its entry-level gaming chops.

Very good CPU performance ; Good entry-level gaming for a thin-and-light 2-in-1 ; Competitive battery life ; Impressive speakers ; Available in a value-oriented budget configuration

Display is only average and could use a 4K option ; Lid and keyboard deck bend a little under pressure ; Keyboard is mediocre and pen input suffers from a sticky display

Asus ZenBook Flip 14 UX461UN review: A sleek, solid 2-in-1 laptop that's eclipsed by our favorite

The $900 Asus ZenBook Flip 14 makes for a solid entry in the current crop of Intel 8th-generation 2-in-1 convertibles, but you can do better for a tad more cash.

Relatively peppy quad-core performance ; Snappy keyboard ; Above-average laptop speakers ; Solid viewing angles

Touchy fingerprint reader ; “ErgoLift” hinge makes the laptop skate on smooth surfaces ; Middling battery life

With its peppy performance, sleek design, sharp display and comfy keyboard, the $900 Asus ZenBook Flip 14 makes for a solid entry in the current crop of 8th-generation Intel-powered 2-in-1 notebooks. But you can do better if you can spend a tad more...

Asus ZenBook Flip 14 (UX461UN)

A 14-inch screen and dedicated graphics make the Asus ZenBook Flip 14 convertible 2-in-1 a rarity worth checking out, though don't expect to play the latest titles at the highest-quality settings.

Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card blows away integrated graphics of rival 2-in-1 systems. Appealing audio. Active pen included.

Slightly dim display. Lacks 4K screen option. No Thunderbolt 3 port.

Bottom Line: A 14-inch screen and dedicated graphics make the Asus ZenBook Flip 14 convertible 2-in-1 a rarity worth checking out, though don't expect to play the latest titles at the highest-quality settings.

Asus ZenBook Flip 14 review: portable power

The ZenBook Flip 14 is a 2-in-1 with a twist

Sharp looks ; Fast processor plus a discrete GPU ; Great battery life ; Lightweight ; Bright, colorful display

Speakers face downward ; Fingerprint scanner inconsistent ; Not great for even light gaming ; Keys are shallow ; Poor front-facing camera quality

The ZenBook Flip 14 may not have the level of polish the last Lenovo Yoga had, but unlike the Yoga, it has a discrete graphics chip, the latest Intel chip, and it still has the ability to keep good battery life. It just won’t win any games.

Asus Flip 14 UX461: More grunt for your dollar

The proverb states that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and for mine, the Asus Flip 14 is not a device that will cause love at first sight based on its looks.

Bang for buck ; 8th-gen Intel Core processors meet 16GB of memory ; Full-size ports

Grey importing needed to get full value and discrete GPU ; Display touted as slim bezel, anything but, and a fingerprint magnet ; Stylus will be lost

ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 (UX461UN-PRO) review – versatile, powerful, elegant

The ZenBooks from ASUS have been widely renown for their high-performance hardware packed inside a portable and elegant chassis. The specs are always good enough not only for everyday business use …

Clean design, robust chassis;Lightweight, super thin, slightly bigger than a standard 13-inch device;Great keyboard, responsive and accurate touchpad;Packs a powerful hardware given the size of the chassis;Good image quality (wide sRGB coverage, high...

When opened, the device loses grip with the surface and slides; The glossy screen finish and relatively low brightness make it hard to use outdoors; The screen uses aggressive PWM 0 to 99% brightness (our Health-Guard profile fixes that); In some regions,...

Asus ZenBook Flip 14 review

A 2-in-1 laptop with its fair share of quirks

Lightweight ; Soild performer ; Well designed

Bad fingerprint reader placement ; Inconsistent Windows Ink experience

The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 is the quintessential 2-in-1 laptop for students who need a reliable computer, but that fingerprint reader needs to be moved.

Asus ZenBook Flip 14 review: A slim, stylish 2-in-1 with some graphics muscle

Thanks to discrete graphics and a good price, this thin-and-light 14-inch convertible is a solid Yoga alternative.

The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 puts discrete graphics in a thin-and-light, two-in-one laptop. The system's other components are better than you'd find in competing models at the same price.

Its USB-C port isn't Thunderbolt 3 and can't be used to charge the laptop, the keyboard feel might take some adjustment and there's no storage for the included pen.

Asus packed a lot of value -- and discrete graphics -- into the slim ZenBook Flip 14, making it fine choice for more performance and portability in a two-in-one design.
