Asus ZenBook Duo review: two screens, too many compromises

You need to really want the second screen.

Useful extra screen ; 10-hour battery life ; Stylus support

Sharp fold-under hinge ; Clunky touchpad ; No Thunderbolt 3 ; Weak GPU isn’t worth it

The Asus Zenbook Duo has two displays: a 14-inch 1080p matte screen and a 12.6-inch IPS panel called the ScreenPad 2.0. The Zenbook Duo is the best laptop if you must have more than one display — just make sure you really want the extra screen.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is a thoughtful, albeit pricey, reinvention of the laptop, with a second screen in the keyboard base and an Intel Core i9 processor that should appeal to creative professionals with resource-intensive workflows.

Unique ScreenPad Plus second display simplifies workflows. Main display is an OLED panel. Excellent design and build quality. Intel Core i9 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 offer computing muscle. Included stylus and wrist rest.

Cramped keyboard and touchpad. No SD card reader. Heavy. Short battery life.

Bottom Line: The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is a thoughtful, albeit pricey, reinvention of the laptop, with a second screen in the keyboard base and an Intel Core i9 processor that should appeal to creative professionals with resource-intensive workflows.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 review: Unique design, but beware the trade-offs Review | ZDNet

The ZenBook Pro Duo's full-width secondary ScreenPad Plus shows admirable commitment to innovation, but squeezing it into the chassis has consequences for ergonomics and battery life.

Full-width secondary IPS touchscreen ; Superb 4K OLED main touchscreen ; Core i9 CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU ; Wi-Fi 6 support

Poor battery life ; Separate add-on wrist rest ; Awkwardly located touchpad ; Short on ports and slots ; Heavy ; Expensive

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo review (UX581GV): Between the sublime and the ridiculous

A true two-screen laptop that's often successful for its screen, keyboard and raw power. The second screen isn't perfect though, and it's pricey.

This is a real dual-screen experience ; Great keyboard ; Brimming with power ; Great for gaming ; Incredibly rich 4K OLED screen ; The touchpad is better than you’d guess

ScreenPad Plus integration is wobbly at present ; Around 3-3.5-hour real-world battery life ; Costs a bit doesn’t it?

With a superb 4K OLED screen, a keyboard as good as any put into a laptop, a trackpad that's almost confusingly usable, and an RTX 2060 graphics card, there's a lot to love about this slightly barmy laptop. The second screen often fails to live up to...

Asus has supersized the Touch Bar on the ZenBook Pro Duo, which boasts a second 14in display above the keyboard. It won't be for everyone, but it's more than a mere novelty
