Rough around the edges. With their Precision 3000 workstation-series, Dell promises lots of performance for comparatively little money. Our review update takes a look at the overall concept and checks for potential issues.

good complement of physical ports ; pretty good Full HD IPS display ; chassis designed for every-day use ; good input devices ; run times are decent even with the small battery ; good performance

CPU tops out at 35 watts TDP ; stress test performance not consistent ; fan runs frequently and is too loud ; coil whine

The Precision 3520 definitely has its plus points. First, there's the display, which is vivid and bright and pleasing to work with. The battery life is also pretty good for a workstation and should be outstanding with the larger 92 Wh battery option....
