HP Omen 15 review

The HP Omen 15 squeezes a powerful GPU into a slim hot rod, and you can still pop the hood.

Solid build quality ; Attractive design that avoids being garish ; Competitive gaming performance ; Quality 4K UHD display

Fans get very loud ; Optional 4K panel can overwhelm GPU in games

The HP Omen 15 marks a serious return to the gaming notebook market. While its use of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with Max Q means gaming performance will be limited next to the most expensive laptops, it’s perfectly capable in most games. The Omen 15...

HP Omen 15

The HP Omen 15 is a surprisingly potent gaming machine with features you might not expect from a mainstream PC manufacturer including customizable backlighting and revved-up storage.

Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M graphics. PCI-connected storage offers faster performance than SATA-based competition. Touch screen. Programmable macro buttons, extra-wide touchpad, and customizable keyboard backlighting.

Rear-mounted ports are inconvenient. Ethernet requires adapter dongle.

Conclusion With its midrange price, the HP Omen 15 pits itself against some potent competitors. While it easily outstrips the entry-level gaming rigs from other mainstream manufacturers, like Acer and Lenovo, this model is priced to compete with...

HP Omen 15-5010nr

The Omen arrives at the tail end of what might be the most exciting year in recent history for PC gaming, with a flood of new hardware and components offering great experiences for almost any budget, from the $550 Alienware Alpha to the $5,000 Origin...

The HP Omen has a bold design, plenty of user customization options, a great keyboard, and something often missing from gaming laptops, a touchscreen.

The screen resolution is capped at 1080p, while the competition goes up to 4K. Routing all the ports and heat vents to the rear won't appeal to everyone, and the only graphics card available is decidedly mid-tier.

HP shakes up the world of gaming laptops with unique-looking and highly portable Omen. It offers very capable performance in PC games, despite being stuck with a last-gen graphics card.

HP Omen 15 Review

The HP Omen 15 is a good-looking gaming notebook with a vibrant display and powerful sound for immersive play sessions.

Good looks; Bright, colorful display; Booming sound

Short battery life; Plastic instead of aluminum lid

HP Omen 15 (2016) Notebook Review

Remake. For the 2016 version of their Omen, HP does not stop at a simple hardware refresh, but also updates the notebook with a stylish new chassis. We take a closer look at the 15-inch version with GeForce GTX 965M. What follows are our impressions.

smartly-designed port distribution ; compact exterior ; good battery life ; backlit keyboard ; graphics switching ; lots of storage ; good 3D performance ; low weight ; appealing design

meager port selection (no USB 3.1 Gen2, no DisplayPort, ...) ; FHD display is just average (brightness, colors, ...) ; minor CPU throttling in extreme scenarios ; battery drains under full load while plugged in ; components can get very hot ; chassis...

Faced with stiff (gaming) competition, the HP Omen has a hard time standing out. While one can't really go wrong with the 15-inch system, the notebook nonetheless fails to make it into our Top 10 and much less all the way to the top of our charts. The...

HP Omen Pro 15 Workstation Review

Mobile workplace. The HP Omen Pro is a very exclusive workstation with a serious premium claim. While the design and the mobility leave a good impression right away, you only get old hardware components. We checked if the combination is convincing...

Chassis, Design, System performance, Display, Touch controls, Port performance, System noise, Weight, Warranty

Port selection, Missing business features, Maintenance, Upgradeability, Price

An already existing notebook construction, in this case from the gaming sector, gets some modified details and is then supposed to be successful in companies, with freelancers and ambitious users. While this works in terms of the display, the system...

HP Omen 15 review: expect unlimited HP from this one

The HP Omen 15 is the latest gaming laptop from the company to hit South Africa, capable of handling virtually everything you throw at it.

For the first time in ages, I was actually hesitant to send a review device back to the PR agency. That should say it all, right? But if you’re in the market for a gaming laptop, you should keep the Omen 15 range in mind. 9 out of 10

HP Omen 15 (2016)

HP radically refreshed their halo HP Omen gaming laptop for 2016, and it's turned into two budget gamer models in 15 and 17 inch sizes. The plastic chassis and faux carbon fiber might not be all that, but the internals are good and some are similar to...

Good performance for the price, relatively light. Keyboard has a number pad. Matte displays for those who despise glare

Cheap casing, no touch screen option, mediocre trackpad, lacks features or pricing to set it ahead of its direct competitors

If you're in the market for a gaming laptop but you don't want a boat anchor or one that will put you in serious debt, you could do worse than the new HP Omen 15. As noted, you could also do a little better in terms of materials and chassis design with...

HP Omen 15 Review and Ratings

The Omen 15 is a worthy gaming laptop that draws upon HP's Voodoo acquisition from forever ago. It's a sleek machine that'll play the latest games at 1080p at or near their top settings.

Sleek design ; Dedicated macro keys ; Customizable LED backlighting ; Extra-wide touch pad

Rear-mounted ports are inconvenient ; Ethernet uses USB adapter dongle ; No GPU upgrade option

Gaming laptops and battery life typically go together like vegetarians and T-bone steaks. In other words, they don't, and if you plan on gaming for hours on end, you'll want a power source nearby to plug into. That said, the Omen 15 kept kicking for...
