HP Omen 15 review (2017): A gaming laptop for everyone

The HP Omen 15 is everything we wanted from the company's gaming line. It looks great, is fast enough to handle most games in 1080p, and it can finally support VR (with a graphics upgrade). While we would have liked to see a bit more graphical oomph to...

Perfect for 1080p gaming ; Great keyboard and mouse ; Gorgeous display ; Attractive design (for gamers) ; VR ready (with the GTX 1060 model)

Terrible battery life ; Not powerful enough to actually play games in 4K

The best thing about the Omen 15? It's clear that HP learned from its mistakes. This year's model looks great, offers more power and actually has a good keyboard and trackpad. While hard-core gamers might want to hold out for the even more powerful...

HP Omen 15 (2017) review: A good laptop that made some bad decisions

The 2017 HP Omen 15 is a strong all-around gaming laptop option, but choose your configuration carefully.

Great 1080p gaming ; Comfortable keyboard and touchpad ; Relatively light for a gaming laptop ; Bright, vibrant G-Sync display

Worst battery life we've ever seen ; 4K display is useless, detracts from user experience ; Slow 5,400RPM hard drive ; Bloatware galore

The Omen 15t gaming UHD (as this specific variant is formally known) is available with several customization options on . The base configuration includes an Intel Core i7-7700HQ, a GeForce GTX 1050, 16GB of RAM, a 120Hz 1080p IPS display, and a 1TB...

Review: HP Omen 15 (2017)

The HP Omen 2015 has some beastly looks, but it performs well enough for serious gaming.

Very good performance. Boots up quickly. Single-access panel allows for easy-ish upgrades. Quiet under load.

Terrible battery life. Dim screen. Limited key travel, with difficult visibility if backlighting is off. You really must learn to love the color red.

HP Omen (15-inch, 2017) review: HP's Omen is a devil of a deal if you’re looking for 4K gaming

Powered by a Nvidia GeForce 1060, the 15.6-inch HP Omen is one of the only 4K gaming laptops you'll find south of $2,000.

The VR-ready HP Omen is one of the cheaper laptops packing a Nvidia GeForce 1060 GPU, it's got a terrific display, a comfortable keyboard and a super-speedy Intel i7 processor. Plus, it's stylish for a gaming laptop.

Its 4K screen means woeful battery life, falls behind other 1060-equipped laptops on benchmark tests.

It's not as elegant as a Razer Blade or as powerful as an Alienware, but the 15-inch HP Omen is one of the better machines in its price range.

HP Omen 15 (mid-2017, GTX 1060 Max-Q) review – a fresh new start

HP Omen 15 (GTX 1050 Ti) review – beautiful, lightweight and compact chassis but comes at a price and a couple of trade-offs

The HP Omen lineup doesn't have a long history in the gaming industry and sometimes you can see the hints of lack of experience. The Omen 15 with GTX 1050 Ti is a clear example of that. While…
