Lenovo IdeaPad 730S review: A slick laptop with no gimmicks

The Lenovo IdeaPad 730S dispenses with gimmicks and focuses on being a great laptop.

Runs cool and quiet except under the heaviest loads ; Super-smooth trackpad and plenty of keyboard travel ; Slim and classy design with no garish logos or labels

The trackpad's top half is harder to click than the bottom ; The display hinge could be stiffer ; USB-C, headphones, or bust for connectivity

It’s always nice to see a laptop that knows what it’s trying to accomplish. Instead of attempting to be all things to all people, the Lenovo IdeaPad 730S is content to be a solid thin-and-light laptop with a strong sense of style. It’s ideal for people...

disappointing CPU performance, especially under sustained loads;extremely limited port selection;highly-reflective display nonetheless lacks touch;PWM detected at all brightness levels;very slow display response times;display lid seems perilously thin...

Lenovo Ideapad 730S review – Lenovo’s thinnest laptop yet

Today's star of our review is a 13-inch premium IdeaPad (yes these two words can exist in a single sentence). It's called the Lenovo IdeaPad 730S, or as they call it in Europe – Y…

Long lasting battery;11.9 mm thin chassis;Surprisingly long key travel;Very high contrast, 98% sRGB coverage and accurate default settings (AUO B133HAN05.1 (LEN8190));It doesn’t use PWM to adjust screen brightness + it has decent maximum brightness...

Lacks essential I/O ports;Heats up under pressure; The fan kicks in during simple load
