Lenovo IdeaPad S12-2959 (Ion review: Lenovo IdeaPad S12-2959 (Ion

Lenovo IdeaPad S12-2959 (Ion

Excellent keyboard; bright, crisp screen; improved graphics performance for a Netbook.

Same old Atom N270 processor; high price.

Although the IdeaPad S12, with its Nvidia Ion graphics processor, provides some 3D muscle, it costs more than comparable Netbooks.

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (Ion)

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (Ion), Lenovo's Ion netbook, comes with smooth HD playback, but not without some sacrifices.

Played back all types of 1080p videos flawlessly. HDMI-Out port included. Large screen for a netbook. 3GB of memory. Big hard drive. Benefits in 3G gaming. Best netbook keyboard.

Priced out of netbook range. Performance hit in both speed and battery life. Sacrificed the ExpressCard slot. Heavy for a netbook.

Lenovo IdeaPad S12

Crisp screen ; Sleek design

Cheap mouse buttons ; Pricey for a netbook

Larger than your average netbook, the S12 provides average performance at a fairly high netbook price.

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 review: Lenovo IdeaPad S12

Lenovo IdeaPad S12

Excellent keyboard; bright, crisp screen; ExpressCard slot.

Same old Atom N270 processor.

If you're looking for a comfortable Netbook with a 12-inch screen, the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 feels comfortable and light--but at this size, we wish it had an Intel CULV processor.

Lenovo IdeaPad S12

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 is the best 12-inch netbook yet, complete with a 1,280-by-800 resolution, full size keyboard, and ExpressCard slot. But it'll cost you.

Great looking 12-inch widescreen. 1,280-by-800 resolution. Best keyboard on a netbook. ExpressCard slot is present. Very good battery life.

Pricey compared with other netbooks. A bit heavier than its peers.

Review Lenovo IdeaPad S12 ION Netbook

The small, white one. Stylishness is a must for all netbooks, bec

Attractive design; Big keyboard; High 3D performance compared to other netbooks; Extensive connectivity

Display hinges are loud and only offer a few angles for the monitor; Small touchpad; Expensive; Case warms up when the CPU is under heavy usage

There are many netbooks. However, there are very few with the Ion chipset: the Samsung N510 offers a similar connectivity, and so does the Asus EeePC 1202N, which, unfortunately, has a rickety keyboard. Those users who wish for a bigger laptop can take...

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 Review

As configured, our S12 is currently priced at $499. The base model starts at $449 with a VIA Nano 1.3GHz processor

Pleasing design ; Solid build quality ; Excellent keyboard and screen ; Five hours of battery life

Touchpad could be a bit larger ; Screen could tilt back further ; Back of the lid could use a bit more protection

The surface of the S12 does not get warm at all – there are no noticeable hotspots on the bottom or top of the machine. The S12 is a very good choice for those wanting a quiet and cool machine

Lenovo IdeaPad S12

The guts of the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 are virtually identical to the IdeaPad S10 that we reviewed back in 2008—1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, and integrated Intel GMA950 graphics. The difference is the body. At 11.4 inches wide, this...

Nice 1280x800 screen; excellent keyboard; good battery life; mostly solid construction

Battery connector is a bit wobbly; midrange netbook performance; fingerprint-magnet lid

While some S12s ship with VIA’s Nano platform and an Ion-based version is in the works, ours came with a standard N270, and its performance reflected that. The S12 took 708 seconds to complete our Photoshop benchmark—about the same as the Lenovo S10...

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (NVIDIA ION) review

But as with other ION based systems I've tested, I found that the computer was actually slower at some everyday tasks than a notebook with an Intel Atom processor and integrated graphics. I blame this on the fact that the ION graphics processor only...

Lenovo IdeaPad S12 review - Liliputing

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 is larger than a netbook, but smaller than most notebooks. It has a 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and a full sized keyboard. But the unit I reviewed has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and integrated graphics, which means the...

If you judge the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 by netbook standards, the computer has an excellent screen and keyboard. While the laptop is still small by conventional notebook standards, it should be large enough to placate some folks who find the typical...
