Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch review

Lenovo's U430 proves you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy a slim, powerful Ultrabook.

Lenovo has managed to once again create budget Ultrabook magic with the Lenovo U430 Touch. At $699, this system is hard to beat, as it offers a decent display resolution, good keyboard, and adequate performance without sacrificing battery life.

Hard to Handle

It's a tall order. Build a capable laptop, thin and light, with a touchscreen, and keep the price at a mainstream-friendly $700 or less. Yes, sacrifices will have to be made to get there, but surely this can be done, right? In the case of the Lenovo...

Cheap for a machine in this class. Looks pretty. Built-in, touchless Motion Control navigation is a neat add-on

A trio of deal-killers on a laptop in this category: Rotten keyboard, primitive touchpad, budget screen

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch

With very few compromises and all-day battery life, the Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch is the entry-level ultrabook to get.

Excellent battery life. Lighter than other entry-level ultrabooks. Comfy backlit keyboard. Ethernet port. HDMI port. Function keys setup intelligently for consumers. 1,600 by 900 resolution screen.

Low maximum volume on speakers. Motion Control and voice control are gimmicky. Some third party software pre-loaded.

With a combination of portability, higher-resolution screen, great day-to-day performance, storage space, and decent port selection, the Lenovo U430 Touch easily bests the former Editors' Choice ultrabooks, the Asus VivoBook S400CA-UH51 and the Acer...

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch review: A daily driver with all-day battery life

This surprisingly inexpensive Ultrabook is a terrific value.

Elegant design ; Excellent backlit keyboard ; Very long battery life

Resolution limited to 1600 by 900 ; Only one USB 3.0 port ; A little heavy for its size

This is one of the most affordable Ultrabooks we’ve seen, and the compromises Lenovo made to get there are not showstoppers by any stretch.

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch

Value Unbeatable for this price. With an elegant if understated design, great ergonomics, good performance and a responsive touch screen, this Lenovo Ultrabook's price tag seems more than reasonable. One catch for U.S. buyers: The only place to get the...

Great - until it broke

I bought it end of December 2015. Loved using it, did everything I wanted. Seemed very well built. Then there was a slight noise as I lifted the screen to open it. Next time I lifted the screen the hinge didn‘t work so came apart cracking open the...

Decent speed, Good battery life, Excellent feel, easy to use on the move ( for a laptop) backlit keys great and easy to switch on or off.

I use chrome because windows slows it down too much. touchscreen is great but gets difficult to see in sun because of fingermarks.
