Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 review

The Yoga 13's shape-shifting design makes it the most intriguing Windows 8 convertible we've seen. It's not perfect, but it's still a good choice among Ultrabooks.

Amazingly versatile designThin and light for a convertible Bright, crisp IPS display

Jumpy trackpadParts of the keyboard feel cramped

Back in January, when we first saw the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga at CES, we declared it to be one of the most memorable things to come out of the show. That was 10 months ago, though, and thanks to that gap, there's a bit of a discrepancy between our initial...

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 review: Flexible in more than one way

The Yoga is perhaps one of the most usable Ultrabooks available today. It's got a great keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen, and it can be used in multiple positions.

Great keyboard, trackpad and touchscreen ; Smooth, responsive display ; Excellent speakers

A little heavy

The Yoga is perhaps one of the most usable devices on the market. It has a great keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen, and can be used in multiple positions.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a solid ultrabook, but as a tablet, it's a little too big for comfort. Otherwise, the Yoga 13 has the best hybrid design we've seen so far.

Solid Windows 8 ultrabook. Folds back for tablet and stand modes. Excellent keyboard. Speedy performance thanks to Intel Core i5-3317U processor and 128GB solid-state drive.

Too large and heavy for comfort as a tablet.

Review: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

At first blush, this laptop looks like any old 13-inch ultrabook. But bend the Yoga's screen back and it goes completely flat. Keep going, and the screen goes past 180 degrees to 270, then 360, until the back of the screen is resting against the...

Lenovo motion control system lets you manage audio and video, hands free. Stays fairly cool, even under load. Solid battery life (4.5 hours) versus the competition. Special sleeve covers the underside keyboard when in slate mode so you aren’t feeling...

… but it’s sold separately for . Fan tends to run constantly. SSD bizarrely partitioned into 7 chunks, leaving just 44GB of usable space on C drive. New rectangular power port easily mistaken for USB. Hinge needs tightening.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 review

In this first run of Windows 8 devices, manufacturers are essentially throwing things against the wall to see what sticks. We've seen every size, every form factor, every direction and angle of...

Lots of form factors in one device ; Good, high-res display ; Great keyboard

Finicky touchscreen ; A few software and performance bugs ; Touchpad is maddeningly inconsistent

A big step in the right direction, but I'd wait for step two or three

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 review: A full-time laptop meets a part-time tablet

The biggest hardware trend marking the launch of Windows 8 is the proliferation of touch-screen laptop/tablet hybrids . Some have screens that pull apart to become separate tablets , while others have screens that flip, twist, or rotate to give you a...

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 looks as good as any 13-inch ultrabook, with the added attraction of a 360-degree screen and a laptop body that can fold into a tent, stand, or slate.

Tablet mode leaves the keyboard exposed, and the Yoga 13 costs more than standard ultrabooks with similar components.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a convertible touch-screen laptop/tablet that most importantly doesn't compromise the traditional laptop experience.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Yoga 13 splits the difference between tablet and laptop (hands-on)

Lenovo's laptop-tablet Windows 8 hybrid takes a simple approach, but is a clever hinge enough?

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Review

This 13-inch convertible laptop features a unique 360-degree pivoting screen. But is that enough to make us love a $1000 Ultrabook tablet?

Solid performance ; Great display ; Nice fit and finish

"Exposed" keyboard in tablet and stand modes ; Potentially frustrating power button location ; Limited to no more than 8GB of RAM

Review Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Ultrabook

Split Personality. With full 360-degree hinges and touchscreen capabilities, the Yoga series is perhaps Lenovo's most ambitious addition to the IdeaPad family to date. Its launch and hardware were designed to coincide with the release of Windows 8,...

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Review

With so many Windows 8 PCs launching in the next couple months, manufacturers are going to have find something to make their machines stand out. Lenovo has taken this idea to extremes with one of its new computers, the IdeaPad Yoga 13. Convertibles are...

At the end of everything, I have to say that I’m impressed. The folding design of the Yoga 13 definitely takes some getting used to, and it will like elicit a few strange looks from people you see on the street, but no matter – the Yoga 13 is one solid...
