The ThinkPad E580 has strong performance and a great typing experience, at a price that even a new startup can afford.

Lenovo ThinkPad E580 (i5-8250U, UHD 620, SSD) Laptop Review

Less is more! Recently, we had the 2018 ThinkPad with dedicated AMD Radeon RX 550 GPU in review. Now, we're putting the entry-level model through its paces. Let's find out what the more basic model is truly capable of.

rigid high-quality case, better than its predecessor ; decent system performance ; comfortable backlit keyboard ; terrific pointing devices ; low power consumption ; pleasantly quiet (even under load) ; matte IPS panel with decent contrast ratio ;...

higher-quality case than the predecessor ; comfortable keyboard ; excellent pointing devices ; matte IPS panel with decent contrast ratio ; upgradeable (among others two RAM slots, HDD + SSD)

i7 CPU slower than some i5 models ; very slow PCIe NVMe SSD ; microSD instead of SD card reader ; poor battery life below average ; heat emissions under load ; 12 month limited warranty ; GPU throttling on battery

The E480 with dGPU failed to catch our attention and secure an endorsement despite its phenomenal price-performance ratio mainly because it got too hot, a problem the larger E580 suffers from as well, albeit to a lesser degree. The E580 is certainly...
