Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Review: An excellent convertible with yesterday’s display

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 is a well-built convertible 2-in-1 with great performance and battery life that's held back only by its 16:9 display.

Rock-solid build quality ; Competitive productivity performance ; Excellent battery life ; Superior audio quality ; Pen is included and conveniently docks

Keyboard remains a little shallow ; 16:9 display is yesterday's technology ; Colors are a little muted and inaccurate

Lenovo Yoga 9i (14-inch) review: sounds like a winner

Laptop speakers never sound this good.

Excellent speakers and audio system ; Powerful processor ; All-day battery life ; Good value for specs

Staid design ; 16:9 screen is cramped and dimmer than the competition ; Bloatware mars the experience

Lenovo’s 14-inch Yoga 9i is the latest in the company’s long line of convertible laptops. It stands out, thanks to an excellent speaker system and good value, but it’s not as head-turning or as nice as HP’s Spectre x360.

Lenovo Yoga 9i (14-inch) review: Already stellar 2-in-1 gets a bit better

Eleventh-gen Intel processors bring better performance and battery life, but the rest of the package sticks to last year's script.

Overall faster performance and longer battery life; Built-in active pen with improved screen feel

Innovative design features only available on Shadow Black version; Memory soldered on

Like I said at the top, not too much has changed from last year's Yoga C940, at least on the Mica version I tested. You get better performance and battery life, an improved typing experience and a new tip on the included active pen for more pleasing...

Lenovo Yoga 9i (14-Inch) Review

Stylish metal design ; Rotating speaker bar ; Comfortable keyboard and touchpad ; Garaged stylus pen included ; Class-leading battery life (with 1080p screen)

Limited port selection ; Lower screen resolution than competitors ; No IR webcam

The Lenovo Yoga 9i's slick metal design, high-end features, and killer battery life make it a serious contender among premium convertible notebooks.

Lenovo Yoga 9i review

Minor updates to the Yoga 9i improve upon a winning formula

Fast overall performance ; Colorful 14-inch, 1080p display ; 11+ hour battery life ; Great rotating speaker ; Garaged stylus

No IR camera ; Limited to 16GB of RAM ; New innovations only on Shadow Black edition ; Tough competition

Lenovo's Yoga 9i gets a new name but is relatively unchanged from last year. It's still a fantastic laptop but the competition is gaining and only the Shadow Black model (not reviewed) brings exciting innovation.

Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Convertible Review: The Yoga C940 Twin

We called the 2019 Lenovo Yoga C940 14 the 14-inch convertible to beat and, for better or worse, the 2020 Yoga 9i 14 brings nothing significantly new to the table other than the expected CPU upgrade.

high performance for the size and weight;quiet when running low-medium loads;no uneven backlight bleeding or PWM;integrated active stylus recess;integrated 3.5 mm audio jack;dual Thunderbolt 4 ports;respectable battery life;good audio for the...

average black-white and gray-gray response times;stylus is small and too thin for a comfortable grip;display could be better calibrated out of the box;display could be brighter when outdoors;spongy keyboard keys and clickpad;no integrated HDMI or...

Lenovo Yoga 9i review: The sleek leather cover sets this 2-in-1 laptop apart

The Lenovo Yoga 9i has a sleek leather cover and exudes attitude with its deep Shadow Black color, not to mention it is an excellent 2-in-1!

Awesome design and unique leather cover ; Amazing build-quality ; Stunning display ; Wonderful keyboard and trackpad ; Powerful speakers with excellent sound ; Good battery life, better if you skip the 4K display ; Good price ; Privacy shade on webcam

Annoying McAfee ads ; Antiquated 720p webcam ; Finicky fingerprint sensor

Lenovo Yoga 9i (14-inch) review: High-quality 2-in-1 with 4K display and great audio

Convertible 2-in-1 laptops with 360-degree rotating screens are common enough these days, but Lenovo's Yoga 9i is a leading example. It comes in 14-inch and 15-inch sizes, with the 15-inch model starting at an eye-watering £1,899.99 (inc. VAT). My...

Superb speakers in Rotating Sound Bar; Stylus with on-device housing; Multiple pre-configured options

Haptic touchpad doesn't deliver

Lenovo's 14-inch Yoga 9i has a superb 4K screen and fantastic speakers that set a high bar high for other laptop-makers. Build quality is solid, and there are plenty of configurations on offer. If the leather-clad Shadow Black option doesn't appeal,...

Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7 (14-inch) Review: 12th Gen P Series Goes Sleek

Shiny, round, and powerful sound.

+ Slim, sleek design ; + Bright OLED display option ; + Loud, versatile 360-degree sound bar ; + Thunderbolt 4 and USB Type-A ports

- Too much preinstalled software ; - Difficult to upgrade SSD ; - Extra laptop keys should be programmable

The Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7 is a slim convertible 2-in-1 with a bright OLED display, 360-degree soundbar hinge and plenty of ports. t would feel even more premium if it didn't come with so much software preinstalled.

Lenovo Yoga 9i review

The Lenovo Yoga 9i features great battery life, a colorful display, amazing rotating speakers, and fast performance, but it skimps on ports, and has some harsh competition.

Long battery life ; Colorful 1080p display ; Strong audio ; Fast performance ; Hundreds less than competitors

Limited ports ; No IR webcam ; Shadow Black design costs extra

, which has a nicer display and longer battery life. But just as with the XPS 13 2-in-1 and the Spectre x630 14, you're going to wind up spending a lot more to get the same specs. Otherwise, this 2-in-1 is everything you need.
