MSI GS66 Stealth review: A 300Hz gaming laptop in a crowded field

The GS66 is a solid follow-up to MSI's groundbreaking GS65 Stealth Thin. It's more powerful in every way, it has a blazing fast 300Hz screen and it even has a decent keyboard and touchpad. But it's heavier than before, and it doesn't stand out nearly...

Powerful hardware ; Slim and sturdy case ; Excellent 300Hz screen ; Great keyboard and trackpad

Heavier than before ; Expensive compared to some competition

MSI’s GS66 Stealth almost has what it takes to beat Razer

An excellent gaming laptop in terms of power and features, but it has a few strikes against it

Improved design ; Efficient cooling ; Powerful ; Big trackpad

Keyboard layout needs work ; The aluminum chassis flexes on the bottom ; Lots of bloatware ; Missing an SD card slot

The MSI GS66 Stealth is a powerful gaming laptop that puts forward the best design seen yet from the company. Speaking of design, it’s going straight after Razer’s Blade, and while it comes close, it whiffs on a few big details.

MSI GS66 Stealth Review

Sturdy but portable metal build ; 10th-Gen “Comet Lake-H” CPU and RTX 2080 Super (Max-Q) GPU lead to very high frame rates ; Blistering 300Hz display ; Plenty of ports, including Ethernet and Thunderbolt 3

Outperformed by a competing RTX 2070 Super (Max-Q) rig ; Redesigned look and shape doesn't stand out from the pack ; 512GB of storage is small for gaming, especially at this price

The MSI GS66 Stealth is a well-built and potent high-end gaming laptop, but it has a few shortcomings (especially considering the price of our review configuration) and loses some of the identity of its predecessor.

MSI GS66 Stealth review

Slim gaming laptop, huge battery and great performance

Lightweight, gorgeous chassis ; Powerful graphics and overall performance ; Great battery life for a gaming laptop ; Agile SSD

Weak audio ; A bit pricey

The MSI GS66 Stealth gives you serious overall and gaming performance with over 6 hours of battery life in a lightweight, ultra-thin chassis.

MSI GS66 Stealth Review: Stealthy and Skilled

MSI GS66 Stealth is one of the most coveted thin and light gaming laptops of this year. Compared to its predecessor, this one sees significant improvements in its design and internal machinery. The GS66 rocks a 15.6″ FHD 300Hz panel, 10th gen Core i7...

Sleek and mobile-friendly design ; Top-class performance ; Assuring battery life ; Captivating 300Hz display ; Diverse port selection

Tinny speaker output ; Paltry webcam quality

MSI GS66 is both stealthy and skilled. The design is something that will blend well in any public setting. The presence of a pretty versatile port selection, decent battery life (for a gaming machine), and manageable heft make it one for the road. It...

MSI GS66 Stealth review – a change that is more than welcome

Ever since the first Stealth series from MSI was released, the laptop world was baffled and headed towards change. We started seeing a lot of thin and light gaming notebooks, which became better an…

Responsive touchpad, Thunderbolt 3, and Wi-Fi 6 support;Takes up to 64GB of DDR4 memory and has two M.2 slots; The display is PWM-free above 25% brightness (and the frequency of the flickers is high-enough below that) (Sharp LQ156M1JW03);240Hz refresh...

Lacks an SD card reader; The laptop gets pretty hot on the outside during gaming; The keyboard is a bit underwhelming, despite its Per-Key RGB backlight

MSI's GS66 Stealth Gaming Laptop Packs Big Specs and Thankfully Goes Light on the RGB

There's always something I've appreciated about powerful gadgets that are able to hide their power levels. I'm talking about stuff like the Volkswagen Phaeton W12 that had essentially the same engine you got in a flashy Bentley Continental (minus a...

Clean, understated design, per key RGB lighting, beefier graphics, lots of ports, 300Hz screen

Gaming laptops that don't break your back or the bank are having a moment right now. To compete, the MSI GS66 Stealth will need to knock it out of the park.

Sleek all-black design;Stunning high refresh rate display;Strong gaming performance;Surprisingly long productivity battery life

MSI GS66 Stealth 10UH Review

Armed with the latest 16GB RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU and an impressive 300Hz IPS display, we take a look at MSI's latest GS66 Stealth gaming laptop and see if its worth the big price-tag.

+ Clean, simple design + Thin and lightweight + Powerful graphics card + RGB Backlit keyboard + Great overall performance + Offers all USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with Thunderbolt 3

- Expensive - Lacks SD card reader - RGB LED lighting on keyboard weak - CPU temperatures soar above 90C - Lacks secondary storage drive - Just a 720p webcam

This is the first 2nd Gen. RTX gaming laptop that we’ve had the pleasure of taking a look at and the results are as you would expect, fantastic. Pairing up a 16GB RTX 3080 with a 300Hz IPS panel is a match made in heaven.
