Samsung Notebook 9 review: A shockingly light, long-life laptop with some extra perks

The 15-inch ultraportable is less than 2.7 pounds and can run for more than 12 hours. That and its combo of features and special apps help it stand out.

The Samsung Notebook 9 is one of the lightest 15-inch notebooks available. It has excellent battery life as well as fast charging and can be charged via its USB Type-C port. Add a discrete graphics, spill-resistant backlit keyboard and a smooth glass...

If you're concerned with looks, this one is uninteresting. The screen moves a touch too freely. There's no touchscreen option and although its graphics are boosted above the norm, the overall performance is nothing special.

It might look like a simple laptop, but Samsung's lightweight 15-inch Notebook 9 has several features that help it stand out from its ultraportable competition.

Samsung Notebook 9 review: A slim laptop that plays it safe

This 15-inch laptop isn't the thinnest, lightest or longest-running, but it comes close in each category.

The Samsung Notebook 9 packs a big 15-inch screen into a slim, light body, plus a Core i7 CPU, all at a very attractive price.

The design is bland, the keyboard is on the shallow side, and the base model has only a lower-res, non-touch display.

Despite not decisively beating the competition in any one area, the Samsung Notebook 9 comes close across the board, making it a safe, if not exactly exciting choice for a slim 15-inch laptop.
