Samsung Series 7 Ultra review:

Editors' note: The Samsung Series 7 Ultra has been renamed the Samsung Ativ Book 7.

The aluminum-bodied Samsung Series 7 Ultra looks and feels great. Excellent battery life; a very nice 1080p touch screen; a comfortable backlit keyboard and a responsive, large clickpad.

The Series 7 has two USB 2.0 ports but only one USB 3.0, and, as with most ultrabooks, the battery is nonremovable and there is no optical drive. It has an older processor and integrated graphics.

The shiny Samsung Series 7 Ultra has a long battery life and nice design, but its now-older processor gives us pause.

Samsung Series 7 Ultra review

Power meets design

Good performance ; Dedicated graphics card ; 128GB SSD ; Responsive touchscreen ; Good connnectivity

Quite heavy ; Battery life could be better ; Only one USB 3.0 port ; Pricey

We think there are two compelling reasons to buy the Samsung Series 7 Ultra: the first is the Full HD screen and the second is the extra graphics support from AMD. However, if it's portability you value over everything else, we think you're better off...

Samsung Series 7 Ultra review

You do notice that extra weight when you pick up the Series 7 Ultra with one hand, but 1.65 kg is still very much in Ultrabook territory and you can certainly carry it around in a backpack or briefcase without strain. It's sturdily built too, so we...

The Series 7 Ultra is a very attractive Ultrabook – neatly designed, highly portable and with good all-round performance. It's no match for the battery life of the latest Haswell laptops, but its twin GPUs do give it some graphical horsepower, making...

Samsung Series 7 Ultra review

Can the inclusion of a dedicated graphics chip elevate Samsung's Series 7 Ultra above the current glut of Ultrabooks?

Fantastic screen ; Dedicated graphics ; Decent battery by ultrabook standards

Last-gen processor ; Keyboard and trackpad could be better ; Pricey (unless you can find a discount)

The Series 7’s jaw-dropping screen and dedicated graphics chip almost blinded us to its last-gen processor. Almost.

Samsung Series 7 Ultra review

Samsung's latest Ultrabook is the Series 7 Ultra (730U3E) and we had the chance to check it out at CES 2013.

The Series 7 Ultra is a stylish 13in Windows 8 Ultrabook with a gorgeous Full HD touchscreen. We are concerned about how much it will cost though.

I needed a new laptop for uni and this one is perfect. The size is comfortable enough to carry in just about any back pack and its light enough to be able to carry it for a while. It's very responsive, even while running some heavier programs such as...

Thin, light and long lasting battery.
