Sony Vaio Z series VPC-Z116GX/S review: Sony Vaio Z series VPC-Z116GX/S

Sony Vaio Z series VPC-Z116GX/S

Light and sturdy design; large SSD hard drive; switchable discrete graphics; excellent performance.

Expensive; switchable graphics options can be confusing.

Sony's top-of-the-line 13-inch Vaio VPCZ116GX/S has a speedy Core i5 CPU, discrete graphics, a huge 256GB SSD, and a sky-high price to match.

Sony VAIO VPC-Z116GXS

Because of space constraints, Sony couldn't make room for a cellular modem, which it had in the previous version, acquiring broadband speeds from Verizon's network. It has an ExpressCard 34 slot, so you can use an external 3G wireless solution.

The most powerful ultraportable. Switchable graphics. Excellent performance and gaming scores. Incredibly light. Internal optical drive can be swapped out for a Blu-ray one. Supports dual SSD drives. Excellent resolution. Backlit keyboard. Excellent...

Average battery life. No cellular modem

With a Core i5 processor, SSDs, and switchable graphics, the Sony VAIO VPC-Z116GXS is hands-down the lightest and most powerful ultraportable money can buy.
