Dell Inspiron 15z (I15Z-4801SLV)

The Dell Inspiron15z (I15Z-4801SLV) is a traditional interpretation of an ultrabook laptop.

Intel Core i7 power. Touch screen. Backlit keyboard. Four USB 3.0 ports. HDMI out.

A bit heavy. A few pieces of bloatware.

COMPARISON TABLE Compare the Dell Inspiron 15z (I15Z-4801SLV) with several other laptops side by side.

Dell Inspiron 15z review: A budget-minded 15-incher with touch

The majority of touch-screen Windows 8 laptops seen during the first wave of new hardware for this new operating system have had screens on the small side. There have been plenty of 13-inch laptops and hybrids, and several 11-inch or smaller tablets....

The Dell Inspiron 15z has a great, slim design for a budget-minded 15-inch touch laptop, and even includes an optical drive.

It's at the top end of the budget category, and for the same money, there are more-upscale systems available. Low screen resolution looks cartoonish.

Dell's Inspiron line continues to look sharper than its budget reputation would suggest. The new touch-enabled version of the 15z works as a reasonably priced Windows 8 laptop with a big screen and an optical drive.

Dell Inspiron 15z-5523

The Dell Inspiron 15z-5523 boasts solid performance and a feature set that helps deliver a smooth and intuitive Windows 8 experience.

Touch screen. Built-in optical drive. Spill-resistant keyboard. 15-month subscription to McAfee Security Center.

Bloatware. Slightly on the heavy side.

Review Dell Inspiron 15z (5523) Ultrabook

Inspiring. Ultrabooks have found their way into Dell's Inspiron f

good housing; individually configurable; dedicated graphics card; always remains cool; mostly silent

glossy display; low brightness; no CPU Turbo under load; cumbersome maintenance

Only the system memory can be replaced, the rest of the hardware components are hard to reach.

Review Dell Inspiron 15z Notebook

Lowrider. Dell models bearing the -z suffix are differentiated fr

Compact design; Low weight; HDMI port; Numerous possibilities for configuration; User-friendly keyboard; Low heat generation; Excellent battery life

Unfavorable positioning of interfaces; Glare-display dependent on viewing angle; Cooling fan consistently running

An Inspiron in a Studio outfit – unlucky coincidence or was this confusion intentional?

Dell Inspiron 15z Review

The refreshed Inspiron ultrabook range feels a lot better to use. The budget build quality of the previous version has given way to a much more premium feel, while keeping the same design. Performance is quite good. But why you would consider the...

Better build quality than predecessor, Very good performance, Crisp test rendering on the display, Fairly solid graphics capabilities, Well-spaced out keyboard

The Core i7 version is pricey, Quite heavy for an ultrabook, Battery life suffers as a result of too much power

Dell Inspiron 15z review

Dell's latest family-friendly Windows 8 Ultrabook

Comfortable keyboard ; DVD drive ; 6GB RAM ; Discrete graphics

No touchscreen ; Poor battery ; Only 720p HD ; Too large to be portable

Dell's Inspiron range of laptops is almost a byword for solid, family-friendly machines that strike an entirely reasonable balance between price, performance and construction.

Dell Inspiron 15z Ultrabook Review

The Inspiron 15z, which was launched early last month, is designed to give you an Ultrabook experience on a budget and without having to compromise on some of the basic features of a notebook.

It's rather large and heavy for an Ultrabook, but its responsive touchscreen and powerful hardware make it a Best Buy
