Toshiba Satellite Click review

While the $599 Click is an attractive detachable notebook, its performance is awful when compared with similarly priced systems. Also, the second battery failed to work in either of our review units.

At a quick glance, the Toshiba Satellite Click seems like an intriguing low-priced, attractive detachable best fit for basic tasks. For what it’s worth, the Click certainly sports aesthetics that are much more attractive than what we typically see in...

Toshiba Satellite U925t review: with its first Windows 8 convertible, Toshiba bets big on the slider

You can't see our New York City office right now, but it's something of a laptop menagerie. We just finished reviewing a laptop whose screen flips inside

IPS display offers good viewing angles ; Can be used in tablet mode

Slider design means limited keyboard space ; Loud fan noise ; Short battery life ; Build quality isn't great

The U925t's slider form factor makes for a compromised typing experience. Meanwhile, other Win 8 convertibles offer better screens, battery life and build quality for a similar price.

Google vs. Microsoft: a cheap laptop showdown

My parents have had three laptops in the past two years, and they're still looking for the right one. My mother is very specific: she wants to check her email, browse Facebook, YouTube, and QVC, create and save documents, and maybe store some photos....

Touch screen is the best way to navigate ; Large, 500GB hard drive (compared to Chromebook) ; Runs Windows 8 smoothly

Small, narrow keys ; Short battery life ; Windows 8 software is out of sync on such a compact laptop

You have $400 to spend on a laptop. Should you buy Toshiba's Chromebook or NB15t?

Toshiba Satellite Click review

I really wanted to like the Toshiba Satellite Click. I did. But reality set in.

The Toshiba Satellite Click runs Windows 8, costs $599, and has a keyboard.

Just about everything else: battery life’s short, performance is slow, and the laptop is bulky and heavy. And that keyboard doesn’t feel very good at all.

By attempting to shoehorn an affordable 13-inch laptop-tablet into a crowded market, the Toshiba Satellite Click ends up as a compromised, underperforming mess.

Slide into a convertible with the clever Toshiba Satellite U925t

A decent touch pad makes this the best of the handful of slider-style laptop/tablet combos being launched along with Windows 8.

A solidly built slider-style Windows 8 convertible, the ; includes features, such as a touch pad, that others leave out.

The design leaves the screen exposed at all times, so you'll need a case or sleeve. The screen resolution is low for a $1,149 laptop.

The mechanical elements of the Toshiba Satellite U925t convertible laptop are complex, but well-made. It won't be your main machine, but it's one of the more usable Windows 8 launch experiments.

Toshiba Satellite L745D review: Toshiba Satellite L745D

Toshiba Satellite L745D

The ; is a functioning laptop running Windows 7, with a 500GB hard drive.

The Toshiba Satellite L745D-S4220 has a sluggish, underperforming processor, disappointing battery life, and a price that hardly fits its performance.

Budget shoppers had best look elsewhere than the 14-inch Toshiba Satellite L745D-S4220. A low-end processor and middling speed aren't worth the $499 asking price, and we've seen many laptops in the same range that offer more.

Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848 review: Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848

Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848

Inexpensive; stylish design; decent battery life; charges USB devices, even when off.

Subpar performance on benchmarks; glossy finish attracts fingerprints; annoying case illumination must be manually disabled; mediocre speakers.

The midsize Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848 offers a high-end design and decent feature set, but you can get better performance for the same (or less) money.

Toshiba Satellite T135D Review

The Toshiba Satellite T135 series is a popular 13-inch thin-and-light notebook available in a variety of configurations. We previously reviewed the T135 with Intel inside, but what about the T135D with the latest AMD dual-core processors and ATI...

Excellent performance ; Great price ; Good keyboard

Exterior gets hot ; Average battery life ; Glossy plastics ; AMD technology makes the T135D a compelling choice over Intel solutions.

Toshiba Satellite P305D Review

The new P305D is the latest 17-inch notebook out of Toshiba, offering the new Fusion finish. This notebook is a complete redesign of the older P205D, and gave the much needed updates that made the older notebook feel very outdated. The P305D also...

Toshiba Satellite A305D Review

The Toshiba Satellite A305D is the sometimes overlooked AMD younger brother to the Intel A305 notebook. This model shares practically the same design, just fewer features that help to bring the cost down. At first glance it would be impossible to tell...
