Review: Toshiba Satellite P205-S6287 Notebook

In a galaxy full of Millennium Falcons, this notebook is the Death Star — massive, powerful, and capable of putting on one hell of a...

Intuitive multimedia control buttons positioned below the screen. Tri-mode wireless connects to 802.11a/g/n networks. Two USB 2.0 ports flank each side. Built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam. Spacious, firm keyboard for smooth, comfortable typing. Included...

Integrated video chipset limits gaming graphics speed. Illuminated “Satellite” logo is both tacky and distracting. Jam-packed with lame, useless freeware. Six-cell battery doesn’t survive a two-hour movie. Lack of HD-DVD or Blu-ray support could mean...

Toshiba Satellite P205-S6237

The Toshiba Satellite P205-S6237's 17-inch screen gives frugal shoppers a reason to spend.

A 17-inch LCD at $999. Design consistent with other Satellites. DVD burner uses LabelFlash technology. Very good speakers.

Middle-of-the-road performance. Deskbound.

Toshiba Satellite P205 review: Toshiba Satellite P205

Toshiba Satellite P205

Attractive design; movie-friendly display; comfortable keyboard and well-designed touch pad; lightweight for a desktop replacement.

Economy processor results in mediocre performance and below-average battery life; large company logo on lid is off-putting; lacks Bluetooth option.

The 17-inch Toshiba Satellite P205-S6237 laptop looks good but is hobbled by its budget processor. You can get more for your money elsewhere.

Toshiba Satellite P205 Review

This model can be found on Toshiba's website for $1,449.99 before shipping and taxes. Pricing for the Santa Rosa based P200/P205 starts at $949 and the Merom version at $799

Wide range of configuration options including HD-DVD, dual HDDs, IGPs and powerful GPUs ; Surprisingly strong exterior build for this price point, and very light construction for this behemoth ; Really strong screen hinge ; Very nice keyboard and...

WAAAAY too much bloatware. You will want to reformat and reinstall Vista ; Just a little flex in the palm rests ; Too many blue LEDs ; Average to below average viewing angles ; 4200RPM Drive (configuration to order has faster options though) ; 6-Cell...

Overall, the P205 definitely leaves a positive impression with me as there are some great configuration choices and excellent performance that can be found at a low price

Toshiba Satellite P205-S6287 Notebook Review

Toshiba has been building notebook computers for almost twenty years. My first impression when I think of Toshiba is that they build solid, dependable computers to serve the needs of business users. No sexy bells and whistles like the high-end gaming...

Toshiba Satellite P205-S6267

If you're looking for an all around notebook that can replace your desktop computer, the Toshiba Satellite P200/P205 series has a lot to offer. This 17" notebook has plenty of power for productivity tasks and offers some advanced multimedia features...

Good display, integrated web cam and mic, good looks (minus the Toshiba billboard logo)

Keyboard keys are flat, speakers are a bit tinny, integrated gaphics on a 17" aren't a blast, battery life isn't long

An all around solid notebook, the Toshiba Satellite P205 is a worth a look for those who are looking for a basic, affordable desktop replacement system, though it doesn't stand amongst major brand competitors (nor does it languish). The CPU is fast and...
