Nikon AF-S TC-14E III review: boost your telephoto powers

The Nikon AF-S TC-14E III gives a 1.4x boost in reach for compatible F-mount lenses but you'll lose the usual f/stop along the way.

You need more reach ; Much cheaper than an extra lens ; Good build and performance ; You lose an f/stop ; Limited lens compatibility ; Slight performance degradation

Nikon F75 test

Light weight; Compact body; Superb exposure system; Accurate focusing; Very easy to use; All the essential features

Sensitive shutter release

Nikon have, like Canon, Pentax and Minolta, have gone down the lightweight route, offering a versatile option for existing compact camera owners that delivers similar ease of use and weight but with added advantage of lens removal and through the lens...

Boeing737NG

Initially I purchased the 2.0 teleconverter; It did not meet my expectations as there was a loss of sharpness and contrast. I traded it in for the 1.4 and there is no comparison between the two. I have no complaints now. Incidently I use the...

Just perfect!

This is my first TC and have to say I am impressed! I bought it used to extend the reach on my 70-200 f2.8 VR. Photos are still very sharp and contrasty, not as much as without it though. Focus is a bit slower but that is totally acceptable. It feels...

Turn your lens into a longer lens

Bought an AF-S TC-14E II several years ago and use it 90% of the time with my Nikkor 200-400 f/4. The other 10% is with my Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8. Both have fast focusing and sharp images. I like using it with the 70-200 lens when I am canoeing and...

Optically superb but limited in use.

Nikon\'s 1.4x teleconverter (TC-14E II) is a very specialised piece of equipment as its front element protrudes into the lens to which it is attached, limiting its use to the few lenses with a sunken rear element. Also this converter is only suitable...

Useful addition

This tele-converter is a useful item to have in the bag when taking wildlife or sports photographs. The only minor drawback is that Nikon no longer provide a carry pouch, something that provides good protection to the item when its not on the camera

Essential bit of glass for your bag!!

Bought this to use with both my 70-200mm f2.8 and 300mm f2.8. What can i say apart from both impressed with the speed of focus and more importantly the results. Looking at the shots I took of wildlife in Norfolk recently I really couldn\'t tell which...

Faster focus than my Nikon 1.7, much more versatile, can get birds in flight without missing the shot due to slow focus
