Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 Tilt Shift Lens Review

The Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Lens brings tilt, shift and rotate movements to a digital (or film) SLR format camera body. In near-standard focal length, the TS-E 45 delivers excellent optical quality . Bringing you this site is my full-time job...

Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 Tilt and Shift lens

There are certain types of photography that only a very bulky monorail camera, or some field cameras, have excelled at in the past. Subjects like architecture where keystoning is a problem, or landscape and close-ups where obtaining enough...

A great lens to have in your camera bag for getting the most out of close-ups

Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 Lens Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews Canon's TS-E 45mm f/2.8 Tilt and Shift lens for full-frame cameras.

Priced reasonably ; Excellent optical performance ; Solid build ; Good, solid controls over tilt-shift movements

Cannot rotate tilt and shift independently ; Closest focus is only 40cm

Overall, this old lens delivers excellent image quality, and a good range of adjustments for a reasonable price. However, it would be nice if tilt and shift could be rotated independently, and if it could focus closer. If you can live with these...

Explore your creativity

The lens offers more than the shift and tilt functions - it gives the photographs a certain surreal look to the colours as well. It is not as a sharp as say a 50/1.8, but the creativity features more than make up for it.

chance to expand your vision

easy to get carried away with the features ; not autofocus

Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 review by ksbuehler

I bought this lens used from a studio photographer. I shoot on a Canon 7D (1.6x APS-C sensor), making this 45mm lens a 72mm equivalent.

Very sharp. Very nice manual focus control. Amazing focal plane control

A bit more Chromatic aberration than I'd like in a lens of this price
