I leave this on the lens all the time as protection against lens damage. It does not effect the settings on the camera exposure wise & prevents UV blue haze in some photos.

It's very difficult to get very excited about a clear bit of round glass, however as they were bought specifically to protect new lenses I can only assume that they are doing that job 100% efficiently.
