Olympus 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II Zuiko Digital Review

Clearly, there are a number of options in this range of both focal length and price point. You do get what you pay for - the quality gap between the 14-54mm ƒ/2.8-3.5 and the 14-42mm Olympus lenses is noticeable.

Lens Test: Olympus Zuiko Digital 14–54mm f/2.8–3.5 II AF

Leave it to Lensmaster Olympus to offer the fastest (and, at $600, street, the priciest) kit lens today— with the closest focusing of any comparable zoom. A step-up option for the E-30, this 28–108mm full-frame equivalent has more reach than Oly's...

Lens Test: Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AF

Olympus's wide-angle kit lens for the E-510 and E-410, available separately for $250 (street), this is the smallest and lightest digital Zuiko. It and its tele counterpart, the 40-150mm f/4-5.6 Zuiko, are the first interchangeable lenses from Olympus...

Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II

A standard zoom for Four Thirds digital SLRs with a relatively bright maximum aperture.

Compact and lightweight; Very good optical performance; Excellent weatherproof build quality; Reasonably priced

Fly-by-wire' manual focusing is an acquired taste

Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II

Four-Thirds lenses are always deceptive by virtue of their compact proportions. The Zuiko 14-54mm is no exception and is classified by Olympus as a pro-spec lens, which makes its relatively modest...

A more versatile, better-performing alternative to the standard Olympus kit lens.Released concurrently with the Olympus E-30 DSLR camera, the Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II provides an alternative to the standard 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. It...

The review lens turned in a competent performance in Photo Review's Imatest tests, which showed highest resolution to be between f/4.5 and f/11 for all focal length settings. Imatest showed significant edge softening, particularly at the shorter focal...

REVIEW: Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II

Gary Wolstenholme takes a look at this Standard zoom from Olympus for Four Thirds format digital SLRs.

Good build quality; Sealing against dust and moisture; Compact, lightweight design; Low distortion

Disappointing performance at 14mm; 'Fly-by-wire' manual focusing is an acquired taste

For the price this lens commands, I expected a better performance than this lens delivers, especially at 14mm, where I am quite disappointed. Many Olympus users will probably have picked up this lens as part of a kit with their camera, and as far as...
