Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC

An affordably-priced, ultra-wide-angle lens with manual focusing that is usable on both 'full frame' and APS-C DSLRs.

If you can live with the inherent distortion and the lack of autofocusing, the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens provides by far the cheapest way to get a really wide-angle lens that can produce sharp images. It's roughly 1/5 of the price of Canon and Nikon 14mm...

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical - Full Format Review / Test Report

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED Aspherical UMC may be the surprise product of the season. It's very affordable yet performing up there with the very best big boys. However, it's not a flawless lens, of course. Its primary strength is an extremely high...

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens Review

This budget manual focus ultra-wide angle lens, offers a diagonal angle of view of 114 degrees on a full frame camera and a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, Gary Wolstenholme reviews.

Extremely inexpensive; Excellent sharpness in the centre at f/2.8 and across the frame when stopped down to f/5.6 or beyond; Good build; Relatively lightweight; Extremely low CA levels

No hyperfocal scale or hard infinity stop

Samyang 14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC

After successful launches of an 85 mm f/1.4 model and an 8 mm f/3.5 fisheye, in September 2009 the Samyang company launched worldwide the next lens. It was a Samyang 14 mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical – an ultra wide angle prime lens designed to work on...

decent build quality ; sensational image quality in the frame centre ; very good image quality at the edge of an APS-C/DX sensor ; fully acceptable image resolution at the edge of full frame ; chromatic aberration medium at most ; well-corrected coma ;...

high and complicated distortion ; significant vignetting on full frame ; you can’t use any filters

Samyang 14mm

I bought this lens after reading many reviews. At first I was disappointed with the focusing. Then I realised I could use AV mode to set focus using live view, then switch back to manual. This is a full manual lens and takes a lot of getting used to....

Well built solid lens. $2000 cheaper than comparable auto lens. Aperture ring clicks firmly.

Hard to find perfect focus. I expect this is a limitation of my experience rather than a fault with the lens.

Samyang 14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC

This is the best lens for widefield astro work. Much better than the Canon 14mm 1:2.8 L II. Also okay for landscapes. But: Do not try to use it for architecture!

only manual (can be a pro) +no coma! +good sharpness +good buildquality +manualfocus ring works great+cheap

only manual (can be a con) -no filters -no exifdata -distortion not usable for architecture
