The Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens is sharp wide open, and it improves dramatically as you close its aperture. It is capable of 1:1 magnification and produces minimal distortion.

Extremely sharp. Minimal distortion. 1:1 magnification. Includes tripod collar.

Sigma has a good habit of identifying gaps in other manufacturer's product lines, and offering lenses to meet these needs. None of the majors offers a 150mm macro lens, or a lens in that range with optical stabilization.

The best lens i ever had for makro-work. Also usefull for telefotos.

AF operates both very fast and silent, you can override it manualy.Very good OS.Distortions and lateral CAs are not existing, bokeh fringing is also not existing. That makes this lens a super-apochromat

The focus path is short for a macro lens. That makes manual focussing not as easy as it could be
