Asus MG279Q

The 27-inch Asus MG279Q monitor delivers solid gaming performance, thanks to AMD's FreeSync technology and a speedy 144Hz refresh rate.

Supports AMD's FreeSync Technology. Solid gaming performance. Wide viewing angles. 144Hz refresh rate. Fully adjustable stand.

Pricey. Slightly skewed color accuracy. Tinny speakers.

Conclusion The Asus MG279Q is a solid choice for gamers who prefer the wide viewing angles and rich colors that you get with an IPS panel. The 2,560-by-1,440 resolution panel delivers sharp image detail and a very smooth gaming experience, and the...

Asus MG279Q 27-Inch FreeSync Monitor Review

Today we're reviewing Asus' MG279Q FreeSync gaming monitor, looking at how well it compares to Acer's XB270HU IPS G-Sync monitor?

144Hz•FreeSync•IPS panel•QHD resolution•Relatively low price•Superior off-axis image quality to typical IPS screens

90Hz limit on FreeSync•No ULMB

While we didn't find the 90Hz FreeSync limit to be a problem, we would rather see it implemented to the full 144Hz rate the monitor is capable of. Still, we had a hard time finding a fault with the MG279Q during gameplay or any other use for that...

Asus MG279Q

This gaming screen from Asus comes with a 1440p resolution and a 27-inch diagonal, but that's not all to like. It's got AMD FreeSync on board to make games run smoother, and it's got screen modes that correspond to different game genres – an idea...

Consistently good image quality ; AMD FreeSync and 144Hz operation ; Genre-specific game modes ; Good control and ergonomic options

Rival from BenQ has more features ; A little more expensive than the competition

A Unique Monitor Cut Down by Bad Quality Control and Worse Support

On paper the MG279Q is a unique monitor: IPS-type panel, 1440p resolution, adaptive-sync, adjustable display, and 144 Hz refresh rate. However, the monitor I received does not run at the rated 144 Hz. One of the major selling points of this monitor...

0 dead/stuck pixels Vibrant colors you expect from an IPS-type display. Adaptive-Sync Good balance between monitor size and pixel density. Seems fairly responsive for IPS. When it works (I'll explain below): The 144 Hz Refresh Rate is super smooth.

Comes with a non-VESA-certified DisplayPort cable. At this price point they should bump the up price (if necessary) to include quality cables and peripherals. The panel in this monitor is known to have stability issues across the models (including...

Wonderful Monitor

Great picture quality, can notice a huge improvement from my old 1080p 24 inch non IPS monitor. Games and movies look wonderful. Colors are great. No dead pixels or noticeable back light bleeding. The build quality is very good, the base in particular...

2560*1440 144Hz IPS Build quality.

None so far.

One of the best monitor you can get

I can live with the defective pixel since i can hardly tell its there even after a month of use. the product was refurbished so you taking some kind of risk.

The stand is amazing you can adjust it anyway you want. The 144hz is great. Because of the IPS panel the colors look fantastic.

When I order the monitor refurbished I was expecting it to break has soon has I power it on or have a have a defect of some sort. Well it has a pixel brighter than the others which was probably the reason for the return in the first place. I only...

Great so far!

I was nervous about buying this monitor because of all the negative reviews. I read over the internet on multiple sites for like 3 days. What I noticed was there were almost no negative reviews after about January of 2016. I decided to order with the...

- Tons of screen real estate - 1440p (Awesome for gaming) - No dead pixels or other blemishes straight out of the box - Stand is well built and extremely easy to adjust - Goes great with the Sapphire R9 Fury I just purchased

- Only comes with a mini-DP to DP cable and not a DP-DP cable - The only thing that bothers me about the monitor is the swivel pad it is on that allows the entire monitor and base to rotate left and right. There is no real resistance to it so it turns...
