ASUS PG221

The ASUS PG221 delivers solid performance and a boatload of multimedia features at a premium price.

Good image quality. Lots of multimedia connections. Strong audio output.

Expensive. Weak vertical viewing angle. Lacks height adjustment.

Asus PG221

Weighing in at 23.5 pounds, the PG221 is nearly 10 pounds heavier than most 22-inch displays, thanks in part to a cylindrical 15-watt subwoofer built into the aluminum mounting arm and base mechanism. The 1,680-by-1,050 panel is framed by a glossy...

Expensive. Weak vertical viewing angle. Lacks height adjustment

The ASUS PG221 will appeal to gamers and multimedia enthusiasts who demand smooth motion performance and a better-than-average audio experience. Its lofty price tag will likely scare off users on a budget, though.

ASUS PG221 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

We have taken a look at a lot of LCD monitors here at ThinkComputers. While most of them are adequate for all scenarios, none of them have been dubbed as gaming monitors. Well the ASUS PG221 is dubbed as a gaming monitor and we can see why just by...

Color Shine looks amazing, - Touch-sensitive controls, - Multiple inputs (VGA, DVI, S-Video, Video, Component), - Power Bass System (15W sub), - USB and audio connections on the side, - Light-in-Motion effects

No vertical adjustment, - No HDMI

This has to be the best LCD I have reviewed or even used. The thing that I like the most about this display is the Color Shine technology. The picture and colors on this display and simply amazing. You can set this LCD next to another one and it does...

ASUS PG221 22-inch Wide-Screen

Smaller displays don't need to lack features, and ASUS proves this with their PG221 22-inch wide-screen. It boasts such specs as 2ms GTG, 2000:1 and stellar design. Where its unique though, is with it's large subwoofer. Yes, we said subwoofer! Do the...

Great feature-set ; Games look great overall ; Built-in speakers are top-rate for a built-in solution ; Connectivity is fantastic, component video is sharp

Price ($550USD) ; Games look great, but same can't be said for desktop environment ; Clunky OSD buttons ; Flickering issue on occasion - could be an isolated incident

There are a few other features and gripes about the display that I haven't touched on, so I will do so now. First off is the fact that as with most of ASUS' gaming products, the PG221 plays a cool melody when the monitor is turned on and off... each...

Asus PG221 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Whether you're a hardcore power user or a casual tinkerer who knows just enough to get into trouble, Asus is a company that you're no doubt familiar with. The company is held in high regard in the PC enthusiast community thanks in no small part to...

Great Image Quality ; Fast Response Time ; Zero Bright Dot Warranty ; Good Looking ; Excellent integrated speakers ; Wide Array of Inputs

Relatively Expensive ; Analog 4-in-1 cable ; Minimal Physical Adjustment ; Lighted Color Bar

Performance Summary: In general, we found the Asus PG221 to be a solid display. Image quality was very good overall and there were no dead or stuck pixels on the screen. We should note, however, that even if there were problem pixels, Asus' ZBD (Zero...

Asus PG221 LCD Screen

Introduction Now a LCD screen is a LCD screen but if you add a good pair of speakers and a subwoofer does it make it even better or just very clumsy? We got a sample of Asus PG221 LCD screen that we are going to share our thoughts about it tonight. The...

Touch menu ; Subwoofer ; Great speakers ; Awesome color and display ; Nice looking

Price ; Lack of sellers

I am quite satisfied with this monitor, it brings out some new features that I would like to see integrated on more monitors on the market. Why should you have to carry a webcam and a speaker system around when the technology is so good that you can...

World's slimmest 22-inch LCD monitor

It may be the world's slimmest 22in monitor, but this unit still delivers reasonable performance.

Design, HDMI input, hardened anti-reflection glass, build quality, image mode presets

Not height adjustable, slight backlight bleeding, fine details sometimes lost

If you're after a multimedia and gaming display that also packs in a reasonably good audio system, the ASUS PG221 may be a suitable choice. While its price tag is quite high and the sound quality isn't stunning, overall it should satisfy many users.

Built in subwoofer and speakers, sharp image, great contrast, fast response time

Slightly cool cast, touch sensitive buttons are a pain
