Planar PX2611W review: Planar PX2611W

Planar PX2611W

The Planar PX2611w's IPS panel allows for wide viewing angles. Also, its color accuracy when viewing photos is stellar and it includes multiple USB ports.

The Planar PX2611w doesn't have HDMI support and has a bulky and heavy design

Priced at $800, the Planar PX2611w should only be considered by professionals who require an IPS-based panel.

Planar PX2611W

If you're looking for a monitor above 24-inches, you might be attracted to the better-than-average price of Planar's 26-inch PX2611W. It seems like a pretty good bargain, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Attractive price. Above-average color reproduction.

Horrible on-screen menu interface. Poor black levels.

Planar PX2611W 26-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

Planar offers the very competitive PX2611W - a 26 inch widescreen LCD monitor that is ideal for most PC's, including web browsing, photography work, and especially gaming. It features a 1920x1200 WUXGA native resolution with 8 bits of color per pixel...

26 inches of widescreen love ; Price competitive for high end S-IPS panels ; Beautiful vivid color - 92% of the AdobeRGB color standard (wide gamut) ; Very bright when you need it to be ; Very sharp display is easy on the eyes ; Low latency and very...

No 'component' video input port ; Color banding at 1080i or 1080p, not visible in movies but is noticeable in PS3 games ; 1080p and 1080i over VGA isn't usable (720p is fine) ; Some motion blur inherent to LCD monitors ; Doesn't work underwater now...

The Planar 26" PX2611W is a great all-purpose widescreen monitor that delivers an incredible image. It delivers a great value, considering what you are getting, a 26" S-IPS LCD monitor. A three year warranty makes it a more comfortable buy too....

Still Going Strong...

This will be a very hard monitor to find a replacement for when it does eventually die.

Haven't found another screen that compares. (For under what I paid for it...)

When computer is off, the monitor turns on every minute or so and looks for an input, then shuts off a few seconds later. I just turn the power switch off when not in use for this reason

Echo Nate 6/12/09

Newegg purchase overnight shipping turned out to be 36 hours. Not bad I guess. 19 Newegg purchases in a little over three years with only a single problem which was resolved in 48 hours. Quite a record.

I would simply echo the review of Nate on 6/12/2009 ; I have owned many monitors starting with the IBM PC 5150, Sony's, Samsung's, NEC's. This is the best. No dead pixels. No margin bleed, and excellent blacks

This monitor is bright. You need to adjust. Despite the complaints of one reviewer it is much easier to adjust than some other popular brands

Good but has serious problems

This monitor will make you see white spots, whine like a mosquito if it is less than 100% brightness and unreliable. If the room is less than 70 degrees F it will not show an image until the back-light warms up. It takes several minutes in the winter...

Looks nice and provides plenty of space for icons on the desktop

Very bright monitor and if you set the brightness less than 100% for the display alone it makes coil whine - very loud and annoying. Using the video card drivers to make the display darker results in terrible color banding. Today the monitor decided to...

Hoping it gets better

At the moment - none

After 5 torturous days of waiting, I received the monitor today. I get it home, get my old 22" LCD out of the way, unbox this very substantial monitor, plug it in, and.... nothing. Doesn't even turn on. Tried several outlets, several power cables,...

Excellent Monitor

The prior review title "Not For Professionals" should be ignored. This a solid monitor that should be considered a high end pro-consumer or entry professional model. If some is a professional they should really be looking at NEC 2690 with a...

Very uniform. Very little backlight bleed ; Very crisp and clean display ; Excellent colors ; No banding ; Very fast, great for gaming

It could always be cheaper ; A-TW polarizer would be nice but then nothing under $1000 has that anyway

Nice

I think monitor resellers need to better educate users on the panel differences and what kind of difference to expect. The TN panel was terrible for everything except gaming.

Very nice monitor. After trying a TN monitor on sale and HATING it this IPS panel is beautiful. It's everything I was looking for

No regrets other than price. I wish the panel type on these would get cheaper to make
