Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (Sterling Grey) review: Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (Sterling Grey)

Inexpensive wireless mouse; three programmable buttons; ambidextrous design.

Poor wireless range; software not included in package; not completely comfortable.

The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 is a basic and inexpensive mouse that will serve left- and right-handed users alike. But anyone in search of extra buttons or special software should look elsewhere.

Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (Sterling Grey) review

The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 is ideal for people who want the convenience of a wireless mouse without the price tag or complexity of an advanced model. This generic-looking mouse has only three basic buttons and no extra functionality to...

Microsoft 36D-00013

Hopefully this was an accidental oversight and not shady practices by Newegg. I'm keeping the mouse as it works fine, but I did NOT think it was cool to buy a new mouse and receive a used one.

Works as advertised, high quality

This mouse was obviously used. The box had been previously opened and the bottom of the mouse had scratches where someone had been using it. It's still in good shape and works exactly as expected, so I'm only dinging 1 egg

Goo Mouse

Good mouse for the money.

I have this mouse for about 6 months now and have yet to change the batteries in it. Is a good durable mouse and it fits nice in my hand

The wheel does not tile left/right. I was use to that with my last Logitech mouse

wow

Nice tracking, all buttons work really nice just a real nice click no stiff buttons or accidental clicks at all. The battery life is outrageous, I usually end up changing them roughly twice a year. I've had it over 3 years and it works like the first day

The receiver's not so great, it's fine if you put on your desk or maybe on the floor but it's limit is about 6 ft

A shoddy product

THE PRODUCT IS VERY ABUSE RESISTANT! While sitting on the concrete floor, I hit the mouse solidly five times with a 1 lb ballpean hammer, but the product refused to fragment. THIS PRODUCT IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF MECHANICAL PERFECTION. It could be...

This product is sold as a mouse, but mine was actually what the mouse left behind ; The mouse is dead, and it was a pleasure to destroy ; My 5 year old backup mouse (i.e., Wireless Optical Mouse Blue) is working properly with the same receiver and...

The product does not cost enough to make it worth returning ; The switches were unreliable. Pointer positioning was unstable and unpredictable. The scroll wheel function only worked right about half the time. AND, all were a constant irritation

Mediocre mouse

Got this as part of a keyboard/mouse combo. The software with the set is good. But nothing much else is. The Microsoft combo was 7 dollars less than a comparable Logitech package. I shouldn't have cheaped out and gone with Logitech instead. Also with...

No real pros on this one. It doesn't really stand out versus any generic mouse for half the price

Very noisy clicking. Wheel is also very noisy. Over sensitive wheel button. Further, the wheel itself does not perform well. The general accuracy of the mouse is also not that good

Eratic, sticky feet, scroll doesn't work, etc

The cursor does not always follow the mouse, then catches up and overshoots the goal. Feet are sticky on a hard surface, causing the mouse to jerk. Instructions are visual. Only address for help on instruction page is sales only. Help files included...

It's black

Sticky feet, useless scroll bar, erratic cursor movements , at times ceases to work entirely. Pretty useless. Try Logitek

Initial impressions

Got this mouse to use with a client's computer who will only be using it as a home office system. It does its job in that capacity, but I wouldn't recommend this mouse to a gamer or PC enthusiast.

Seems well built for the price; decent tracking on a good surface; if this is anything like the other MS mice I've owned, the battery life will be good (5+ months); good value

Terrible tracking on uneven surfaces; scroll wheel is clicky but is way too lose (will cause missed weapon changes in games, for example); large and cumbersome wireless receiver
