iPod touch review (2010)

At Apple's last event, Steve Jobs called the iPod touch the company's "most popular iPod," and it's easy to understand why. In just a few short years, the iP...

Apple iPod touch 2G and nano 4G: The Engadget Review

It's been just over a week since we ran a smash-and-grab at Apple's unveiling of its newest entries to the iPod family, the nano 4G and touch 2G. The devices, both set along an evolutionary (rather than revolutionary) path have certainly been nipped,...

Access to Apple's App Store ; Wide functionality in one package ; Solid hardware design

Storage quantities are limited ; Expensive ; Did we mention they're expensive

iPod Touch review

In an era of tablets of all shapes and sizes, or smartphones of varying degrees of tablet-approaching vastness, what room is there for a device like the iPod Touch? I'd say "the humble music player," but the Touch is no longer that, nor has been for...

The 2012 fifth-generation iPod Touch has an excellent set of features: better front and back cameras, 1080p video recording, iOS 6, and a 4-inch Retina Display just like on the iPhone 5, in a design even thinner than the iPhone.

The iPhone 5 still beats it on performance. The Touch lacks any phone functions, and there are tablet competitors that beat the $299 Touch on price and screen size.

The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod ever, and as close to a phoneless iPhone 5 as you can get -- but its high price makes it a tough call versus cheaper tablets with larger screens.

Apple 16GB iPod touch (2G, late 2008)

Great audio playtime ; Greater capacity for similar price of original model ; Genius playlist support ; Handy hardware volume controls ; Nike + iPod receiver built-in ; Less buggy OS ; Podcast episodes play one after another

Video out requires expensive cable ; Video playtime not up to Apple’s estimates ; Doesn't charge from older accessories ; Screen looks a little dingy ; Internal speaker tinny

Apple iPod Touch second generation review: Apple iPod Touch second generation

Apple iPod Touch second generation

The second-generation Apple iPod Touch has it all: music, videos, photos, podcasts, e-mail, Web browsing, Internet radio, games, Nike+, Wi-Fi music downloads, and an App Store for adding thousands of custom features.

The second-generation iPod Touch may be overwhelming to users looking for a simple music player; audio quality is average; and iTunes software is required.

The second-generation iPod Touch includes features that are light-years ahead of the competition, its design has improved, and its price has finally come down to earth.

Apple 32GB iPod touch (early 2009) Review - PCWorld

To be sure, the lower prices make the Touch a more attractive purchase than before, coming in at $229 for 8GB (previously $299), $299 for 16GB, and $399 for 32GB (down from $499). The prices are more in line with what Apple and AT&T charge for the...

Expensive

The iPod Touch remains the class of the field, with beautiful design, useful apps, a touch screen, and built-in Wi-Fi.

iPod Touch (Second Generation)

The second-generation iPod Touch adds speaker and volume controls--and delivers one of the most polished media players available at a lower price.

Includes a Web browser and Wi-Fi ; Beautiful design, easy to operate

Expensive

The Touch remains a tremendous and innovative device, with enticing features, unparalleled ease of use, and plenty of expandability through the App Store. As attractive as it is, though, I still believe it has room to improve. New features coupled with...

Apple iPod touch (2nd generation)

Apple's crown jewel player line gets slimmer, cheaper, and, uh, more fun.

Stunning, sprawling glass display. Access to App Store and iTunes Store via Wi-Fi. Built-in Internet browser. New Genius feature builds playlists for you

Very expensive. Fingerprint magnet. File support is still extremely Apple-centric ; Watch the iPod nano (4th Gen) and touch Video Preview

While the second-generation iPod touch is very similar to its predecessor, it has enough extra features, like Genius playlists and excellent games from the Apps Store, to maintain its standing at the top of the PMP heap.

Apple iPod Touch 16GB MP3 Player Review - Intro

Casting the rules of grammar aside, Apple describes the new 2nd generation iPod Touch as "the funnest iPod ever". But while copy editors everywhere are grunting in disgust, this upgrade to the 1st generation Touch does much to live up to its hype, with...
