Archos 70 review: Archos 70

Archos 70

The ; Android tablet includes a capable 1GHz processor, capacitive 7-inch touch screen, front-facing camera, Bluetooth, HDMI output capability, and up to 250GB of storage.

The tablet is generally sluggish, build quality feels cheap, viewing angles are crummy, and the app store is thinly stocked.

The Archos 70 offers more horsepower and features than any other tablet under $300, but its limitations make it more of a toy than a tool.

I got what I paid for

First of all, I encourage you to think about what you WANT out of a tablet. Do some research and watch some youtube product reviews. Don't just settle for a tablet with nice tag or go for 'immediate results.' Although I plan to buy an iPad3, I wanted...

Inexpensive Android 2.2 tablet ; Very responsive ; Plays Flash/Netflix though you may need to kill some background processes/free some ram to optimize performance ; Excellent e-reader--Aldiko app has hundreds of free classics and Gutenberg...

Only Bluetooth GPS--not all Bluetooth GPS devices are compatible ; Small ram (256mb) but you can work with it and be smart using App Killer or Advanced Task Killer (free on Market) ; No Market pre-installed but an easy-fix by downloading the apk file ;...

WYSIWYG

I have been very happy with this product - alot of good feedback on forum.archosfans.com Would I but this again? Yes - if it was 2010 again. Currently there are too many descent HoneyComb tablets (though they are ~ double this price). Would list...

Affordable and functional. It does everything that I ask it to do - including entertaining a 2 year old while he watches movies of himself ; The battery life is good as long as you do not leave the screen on indefinably. I will get ~ 8 hours out of...

No optimized flash. (You can install Flash 10.3 from market place) ; No native Google Marketplace (it can be installed via APK and works fine) ; No GPS ; 256 RAM is a little limited ; Runs Froyo - not expected to go to Gingerbread or Honeycomb

Great Tablet

I researched a lot before I bought this tablet, and it has exceeded my expectations. I definitely would recommend it.

Screen is clear and responsive. Perfect size to carry around with me. Connects with my wireless router without any issues. If you download the arctools from Archos you can access the android market. I haven't had any software issues. It recently had a...

Can't install all android apps due to proprietary trademarks. Can't charge through microusb, but you can get a USB charger cheap on line

Best Bang for Your Buck

Great for students Go through setting, because performance is not optimized without adjustment. Does not censor like Newegg does.

250G storage ; bluetooth (keyboard also) ; e-book ; e-comic ; music and audiobooks ; Google Services compatible ; easy to root (android market) ; battery life is good (depending on how hard it is used) ; Fast charging (2ah charger) ; Live Wallpaper...

avoid firmware updates unless absolutely necessary. Firmware removed compatibility with over half my movie collection ; Not many accessories available that are Archos specific ; Battery is not replaceable ; cannot charge through USB ; camera is low...

It's good

pretty practical device. searched for many tablets and this seems to be the best for me, specs and pricewise. so far its working great

Cool little device! upgraded right after unpacking and works pretty good. Simple to handle, light to hold, and very thin. the screen is perfect for viewing videos and the kick stand has it's purpose. capacitive screen works great and can be too...

appslib, not all video codecs work on this thing, just the ones listed, gotta buy plugins from archos, or simply get a videoplayer app. sd card does not read when you pull it out and put it back in while the unit is still on, but i can live with it....

Good for the price

Over all I love the 7 inch factor in these type of tablets but it needs more polish it's a good start but it needs more support than it's getting

Love the fact it's a light unit and the upnp support and it's codec playback is nuts, battery life is great and I love the fact you can do a reboot like a PC unlike many android devices and the kick stand is a plus

No real support for the market place from Google which is sad but none the less fixable with a apk download, sometimes the unit can lag and the screen isn't as sharp as it could be some apps and background seem washed out but the again a lot of apps...

Nice tablet

Thin ; Light ; Reasonably agile

Screen is a magnet for finger marks ; 256MB RAM a limiting factor for upgrades ; Flash not released by Archos after months of promises

Archos 70 IT

No data plan needed just connect through your wireless networks. Andriod OS is upgradable upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2. I like mine so much I bought a second one for my 21 yr old daughter

Tablet comes with AppLib for browsing/downloading apps. Its a weak and pathedic attempt with 10,000 Apps. However, you can download ArcTools (free App) and install google marketplace with 160,000 apps

Archos 70 Internet Tablet - 250GB Running Google ANDROID + Wi-Fi (501586)

Great idea, poorly implemented. Not only is the device flawed but the complete lack of customer service from Archos is astonishing. Phone calls, emails and RMA requests go mostly unanswered. When you do get a tech on the phone they lie. First about...

Size, concept, decent screen, 250gb drive

Battery life is dismal. Battery dies in less than 3 days with no use. Archos site claims up to 10 hours of web browsing. I was barely able to get 2 hours ; Bluetooth and/or USB tethering does NOT work on "most phones" as claimed by Archos. Phone...
