Brother DCP-585CW review

The Brother DCP-585CW looks and feels the part, thanks to its silver and dark grey finish, rubberised buttons and a chrome four-way cursor control.

The Brother DCP-585CW gets a lot of things right in build quality and ease of use. But it's an indifferent performer with mono prints and you pay a speed penalty with the highest-quality photo output.

This jazzy-looking Wi-Fi enabled photo MFD is just as suitable for the home, as for the office.

Good print quality in normal mode, Fast print speeds in fast mode, Decent scanner, Wide color swivel LCD, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, Decent looks, Good bundled software

Skewed text prints in the fast mode, Reddish hue in photo prints, No FAX, No Wi-Fi on/off button/indicator, A bit expensive

SICK of exchanging!!!

great printer quality, and love having a scanner/copier/printer combo

i have returned this specific model about TWO times now, going on the third -- ALL of them have had the same problem with black ink not printing. this most recent one didn't give out until i've had it for a few months, but the others have not worked...

Black doesn't print

I hate this stuff..now I don't know what to do! Anybody know of a decent printer that works

nice size..other than I can't say anything about it..it doesn't work

Like others my black didn't work right out of the box, called Brother tech support, ran some "super cleaning cycle" - not a hint of black. (although it's coming out of the cartridge). I was told to call back, send in a receipt, and they will exchange....

Clogged

Ink's expensive. To replace the ink in this you can buy a whole new one.

It has a nice LCD display

Above average

Once I used the ethernet to install as opposed to the USB it installed like a dream. High quality printing (haven't tried photos yet) and the ink isn't too expensive

USB Installation with Windows 7 RC (7100) was impossible with any driver configuration, and wasted about an hour of my time. Might be different with a full retail windows installation

I don't know yet.

I wish Brother had 64-bit Linux drivers. It's sort of a paint to get the drivers to work sometimes.

Really nice looking machine. Wireless setup was a breeze. Nice size and weight

Unfortunately, I haven't really been able to use this machine. For some reason the black ink is not printing. All of the other colors are fine, but there is absolutely no black that comes out. So, I've had to call Brother, and they sent me a new...
