The base specification of the HL-5280DW is impressive with a 28ppm, 1,200dpi, laser engine plus a duplexer and networking as standard. Add the wireless interface and low running costs and you have a small business laser that's hard to match.

Drum shot, don't expect help!

 

I just unpacked and set the printer up and my first print had huge spots from the drum all along both sides. I checked the drum for visible damage and found none. Called support to request a replacement be sent out. After 15 minutes on hold and then...

Reasonable price. I'm expecting toner to be cheap

Included imaging drum was bad. Support is not very helpful ; Although website says that there is an email support option, there is no way to send an email to support. Clicking this link only takes you to their "Find your answer in 4 easy steps" page

best printer yet

 

I got mine from Newegg as a mfgr refurb. came with a substantial price reduction and a new full cartridge, 0 pages on the counters. I have not needed more memory yet as I have not printed anything complicated or more than 24 pages I will wait and see...

Setup is as easy as pie!!! This printer set itself up on my WEP wireless network with no hassles at all. I think most of the problems people report stem from not reading the instructions ; TIP.. Use a wire first and it will set itself up wireless and...

Best Yet

 

Wireless is very easy to set up if you have a cat 5 wire long enough to reach it. use it first and it sets itself up for you the only thing I had to input was the WEP encryption code

It has everything, duplex, wireless or wired (USB, Centronics or Cat 5) and it came with a full toner cartridge

Great Printer

 

Buy it! Looked brad new out of box, easy software install and set up, huge recertified savings.

Prints Fast, no spooling backups, high quality black and white prints, has its own print server for networks,and cheap replacement cartridges considering 25,000 pages on one cartridge

Works Great Until It Stops...

 

In all seriousiness... Error 52 has something to do with over-amperage and the subsequent shutdown of the printer... like an internel overload breaker that can't be reset. It seems that the "dimming lights effect" (see the reviews in the retail model)...

Price $$$... Multiple features... low cost of supplies

Nice HP Replacement

 

I have been a dedicated HP fan (and still am), but I was unable to find an HP wireless laser printer. So my search began. HP has been my preferred manufacturer because of their commitment to Linux.

Fast! Large paper capacity and nice external center feeder. Wired and wireless worked without too much effort. No problems with Linux (pclos 2009.1 and Ubuntu) as well as Windows

Nothing major. Maybe a little cumbersome entering your wireless security key
