Brother MFC-9125CN Review: Brisk, Affordable Color Laser MFP With Mediocre Color Output

The $400 (as of May 22, 2012) Brother MFC-9125CN stands out among other low-cost color laser multifunction printers for having decent speed and toner costs. Though this MFP is unremarkable otherwise, it's a legitimate option for a small office seeking...

Average or better speed ; Reasonably priced toner ; Yellowish, grainy color quality

No automatic duplexing

Compared to other low-cost models, the MFC-9215CN stands out for having reasonably good speed and toner costs--but color quality is mediocre.

Brother MFC-9125CN

The Brother MFC-9125CN is wicked fast for a small-biz color laser-class MFP.

Fast at business printing. Ample standard paper capacity.

Slightly sub-par graphics. Lacks port for USB thumb drive as well as memory-card reader. No auto-duplexer.

Brother MFC 9125CN

Brother's MFC 9125CN offers a budget SOHO printing centre that lacks frills, speed or particularly good quality printing. The trade-offs are worth it if you only intermittently print colour, and have plenty of patience.

Mid-price for its feature set ; Inexpensive toner refills

Middling print speeds ; No in-built duplexing ; Poor-quality colour

The standard toner cartridges for the MFC 9125CN are rated for up to 2200 black pages, with the cyan, magenta and yellow capable of 1400 pages each. Prices for replacement toner varied quite widely in our searches — and there's more than a few...

Works Well

Good color printing, the three we have don't have any issues jamming. The color toner isn't cheap, but it is cheaper than all the others I've recently checked

Good Sturdy Workhorse.

Replaced Brother HL4070 with MFC9125. We are fully wired and don't need wi-fi. We eliminated an inkjet that was for scan & email use. Free Scansoft Paperport software is valid for 5 computers only. Drivers installed flawlessly on XP & Win7. Smaller and...

Highly functional

You can't beat Brother laser printers for the price.

Quality 3 in 1, this thing does not feel cheaply made despite the low price. Uses Control Center 3 management software, highly configurable. Ink is inexpensive. Automatic document feeder works well

Once in a while I get a phantom printer jam, curable by simply pressing OK. Printing envelopes in humid weather will seal them shut. You can get around this by folding the lip back around the envelope and feeding it in

Duplex Printing

Due to paper curling, the manual duplex printing is awful. The printer would either jam or not recognize the paper. If duplex printing is a top priority, I would not recommend this printer.

Good Value, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Set Up

Jams Easily, Performance, Slow

Top Of The Line purchase of an all in one printer

Printer installed without trouble. I did however need assistance in setting the printer to work on my home network. A friend of mine, a computer geek solved the problem in no time though. Since I do a lot of certificates and envelope printing, I love...
