Brother MFC-L8850CDW

The Brother MFC-L8850CDW delivers good speed for a color laser multifunction printer, and it's packed with features, including a 50-sheet ADF that supports single-pass duplex scanning, faxing, and copying.

Fast. Single-pass duplex scanning, copying, and faxing. 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF). Scans to multiple destinations. Works as a standalone copier/fax machine.

Subpar photo quality. Slightly subpar graphics.

The MFC-L8850CDW is about midway in price between two Editors' Choice models, the OKI MC362w and the Dell C3765dnf Color Laser Printer. It falls well short of the higher-end Dell C3765dnf in running costs, speed, paper capacity, and graphics quality....

Brother MFC-L8850CDW review

Brother's MFC-L8850CDW is a good colour laser MFP, but we'd go for a high-end inkjet alternative

Brother's MFC-L8850CDW reviewed: for 20 to 50 users

Brother printers have usually been designed for individual to SOHO uses, but the company has just launched a new range geared towards corporate use. We recently spent some time with the MFC-L8850CDW, which is pitched at organisations with around 20-50...

Colour photo prints were surprisingly good, despite this being something the machine was never intended to be used for. We can see it working well in small organisations, and up, but it’s certainly overkill for solo operators.

Too much for the home, but perfect for the small office.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

front side scanner failed after 5 months of very light use.

Just plan on buying two if it's a critical function for your business. Know that it won't be as fast at scanning or printing as a expensive machine. And support was okay, just kinda confused sometimes, repeat steps already completed etc

pretty easy to set up warranty was still good, going to mail me a replacement and a free box to send the broken one back in

kinda slow to print sometimes, even on gigabit network. waiting for data in between pages? kinda weird. my other (2009) network brother laser doesn't have this issue. Scanner died after 5 months. big strip of black weirdness down the side of pages....

Good printer, support questionable

I gave two eggs because it is a decent printer. But for the price, I expect much more reliability from the printer AND support!

Good features and the LCD controls are large and easy to use.

I purchased this printer in May 2015. Immediately after setting it up I found that the upper paper feed door interferes with the lower paper tray. I contacted support and they quickly sent another. The second one had the same issue but not as bad. Now...

Great Printer

My main reason for buying this printer as a home use unit was all the money I was dumping into replacement ink cartridges over the years. I live in a dry desert environment so my cartridges constantly dried out. This unit solves that problem. Although...

-Starts to print ready state in in about a minute from cold start. -Fast printing, Crisp black text. Average color print quality. -Love the User Interface. -WiFi enabled. -Scanning documents is fast, quality good. +No more dried out inkjet cartridges!!!

I've had no problems with this printer to date. As an observational thought I was thinking the unit could have less plastic parts for a unit of its price.

My first multifunction unit

Duplex copy worked well enough, although the feeder probably is a bit off at the moment. Duplex printing was flawless, and color and resolution was what I was expecting for a laser color printer. Worked well with my Nexus 6 android using the brother...

Durable, good speed, does exactly what I wanted. Received yesterday in the afternoon, had it unpacked and running in less than a hour, including loading drivers and software on an older WXP machine my girlfriend uses as her PC. Had no issues in the...

Heavy, but not so much that it crushes the table it sits on. Feeder is a bit temperamental, and did not feed straight each time, but that may be out of the packing issues that I may have to look into
