This Canon laser printer is hiding an expensive secret

Don't let the low retail price fool you -- the Canon imageCLASS LBP151dw's hidden drawback is its expensive toner refill cartridges.

The Canon LBP151DW is adept at printing high quality text documents with respectable print speeds. With the help of its 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi print server, it can also connect to the cloud to print directly from mobile devices and Google Chrome Web browsers.

The printer can't scan or copy documents; doesn't support Apple AirPrint; the toner refills are more expensive than average.

The Canon LBP151DW is a competent workhorse laser printer, but rival models offer more features and lower ink costs for the same price.

Canon imageClass LBP151dw

The Canon ImageClass LBP151dw is a speedy, budget mono laser printer with above-average text, and is a good fit for a micro or home office.

Speedy. Good text quality. Compact. Connects via USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi.

Slightly below-par graphics. Lacks the Wi-Fi Direct connectivity seen in some of its competitors.

Conclusion The Canon ImageClass LBP151dw is a compact and capable mono laser printer for use in a micro or home office or as a personal printer. It lacks the Wi-Fi Direct connectivity found in the Samsung M2825DWand the Dell E310dw, but does via...

Canon ImageCLASS LBP151dw Review

Very fast considering its price, but few other advantages

Inexpensive, fast

Poor printing quality

The ImageCLASS LBP151dw is not a terrible choice if you're on a tight budget and don't mind making sacrifices in text quality and ease of use. However, the Best Buy on a Tight Budget Award winning offers better performance at a much lower list price,...

This Canon laser printer is hiding an expensive secret

Single-function printers -- those without scanning or copying capability -- are a rare species these days, but a simple monochrome laser printer like the Canon imageCLASS LBP151dw ($169, £119, AU$230) is all you really need if you print mostly text...

Canon i-Sensys LBP151dw review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Canon i-Sensys LBP151dw can't copy and scan like an all-in-one printer can, so you're limited to just printing in black and white. Our testing revealed that this printer doesn't cost much to run, but that won't matter much if its print quality is...
