Canon Selphy ES3

 

Canon's rotund Selphy ES3 snapshot printer looks almost as Weeble-like as the similarly shaped (and priced) HP Photosmart A826. Unfortunately, not everything about this printer is so disarming and friendly.

Lots of fun printing options; large LCD ; Very good documentation

Expensive; slow; vulnerable paper path ; Yellowish photos; wasteful consumables

The Selphy ES3's fun factor is negated by its problems with speed, print quality, and consumables costs.

Fantastic print quality, small, comprehensive media support, easy to use

Expensive consumables, no battery option, minor rainbow effect in some photos

Costly consumables aside, Canon's SELPHY ES3 photo printer is a fantastic buy that provides excellent print quality in a small package.

Solid build ; Very useful standalone features

Image quality still not up to par with desktop printers

The self-contained nature of the ES30 with its all-in-one dye and paper pack makes a better travelling companion than the competing CP780, and image quality is better too

Though it's not as quirky as Canon's "bucket" printer, the ES30 does an excellent job of printing near-lab quality photos in a portable, attractive package.

Canon Selphy ES30

 

A 15x10cm (post card) sized printer, however instead of the normal box shape this is rather like a radio or cassette player as it has a built in handle and is a very thin shape the card (printing stock) handling is unique.

The Canon Selphy ES30 measures 22cm wide 23cm tall and 12cm deep. You will need maybe 10cm clear in front of the unit as the card stock is turned in mid air from its landscape stored position to its portrait printing position. It weights less than...

An affordable compact printer with some significant improvements over the ES20 when it comes to creative effects. It benefits from a larger LCD and more user-friendly controls, but leaves some questions to be answered about colour correction.
