Epson Stylus Photo R265 review

We want cheap, quality photo printing. Does this provide it?

Borderless six-ink printing ; Only need to replace the inks you use ; Print on CDs and DVDs ; Extremely vibrant colours

Black text printing not the best ; Photo print quality sometimes lacking

Good value for money - though you may want to spend more for top quality results

Printers have risen in quality and declined so much in price in recent years that it's easy to forget that a colour Apple StyleWriter used to cost several hundred pounds. Now, for just £90, you get six-ink photo printing.

Epson Stylus Photo R265 review

For the reasonable price of £52 this printer offers a feature more common on dearer models: it prints directly onto suitable CDs and DVDs.

The R265 has some nice features, but it's too expensive to run and too slow.

Good quality prints + the benefit of printing direct to CD media

The only thing it is a little slow but the quality makes for it.

Excellent results on A4 borderless photo prints, even with cheaper photo paper.

Unit has become more noisy in a short space of time.

Epson Stylus Photo R265

Great quality, good paper feed, capable of printing labels directly onto CD. Individual cartridges should mimimise waste, but see below.

Very high ink consumption. No charities accept Epson cartridges for recycling. High cost of cartridges. Head cleaning uses 5% of ink. Reports say that the inbuilt chip tells you a cartridge is empty before it really is.
