HP Laserjet 1022N Laser Printer

If you are extremely tight on space and are certain that you need easy networking, consider splashing out on the tiny, $299 (as of 1/13/2006) HP LaserJet 1022n. Once you've stashed the paper tray's dust cover and contents, the tray flips up to turn the...

Includes built-in ethernet networking ; Small footprint

Text output was dense but slightly fuzzy

The 1022n produced acceptable print quality in all our tests. Text had dense, heavy type and a slightly fuzzy bottom edge to characters. Some very thin banding was visible in our line art sample. Closely spaced blocks of parallel lines were darker...

HP LaserJet 1022n

The pricey LaserJet 1022n features built-in ethernet and fits into the smallest confines.

The HP LaserJet 1022n is the most compact network printer available; it produced good quality prints across the board, though text characters had a slight fuzziness.

HP LaserJet 1022n Laser Printer (19 PPM, 1200x1200 DPI, B&W, 8MB, PC/Mac)

Artwork: Rick Rizner, Chris Manners

Includes built-in ethernet networking ; Small footprint

Text output was dense but slightly fuzzy

The 1022n would be ideal when easy networking and foldaway convenience are more important than speed and economy.

HP LaserJet 1022 review

HP LaserJet 1022 The good-looking HP LaserJet 1022 offers quality prints and a small size to please space-strapped solo users and students. While this machine's sturdy good looks add a professional air to your work environment, its noisy operation may...

Quick, high-quality printouts; lightweight and attractive machine; PC and Mac compatible; comes in network-ready models.

Noisy; no straight printing path; lacks advanced paper-handling features such as duplex printing; pricey postwarranty phone support.

Need a reliable, bare-bones laser printer with a sense of style? The HP LaserJet 1022 deserves a look.

HP LaserJet 1012

The HP 1012 is a good overall value, just don't expect it to be a speed demon.

The lower-than-average 5,000-page-per-month duty cycle, nonexpandable 8MB of RAM, and lack of a parallel port are unfortunate, but they won't matter for light to moderate use (assuming that your PC has a USB port). The HP 1012 does have a low per-page...

Service and support

HP LaserJet 1012

Good print quality and speed; double-sided printing; watermark feature; Windows and Mac compatible.

Some installation glitches; limited paper-tray capacity; no USB cable.

The affordable HP LaserJet 1012 delivers good print quality and speed, but it's best suited for short reports and graphs.

HP Laser Jet 1022n

Think of the HP LaserJet 1022n ($299.99 direct) as a personal laser that happens to include a network connector. In fact, the identical printer is available without a network connection—the HP LaserJet 1022 ($199.99 direct)—or with a wireless...

Small size. High-quality output with excellent text. Better graphics and photos than most monochrome lasers. Includes a network connector

Limited paper capacity, at 250 sheets standard and maximum

The HP LaserJet 1022n delivers high output quality and good speed for the price. It's unquestionably a personal monochrome laser, with only a 250-sheet paper capacity, but the network connector makes it appropriate for small networks, too.

Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 1022n laser printer Review and Prices

The LaserJet 1022n compact laser printer can easily fit into a crowded home office. It's not the quietest printer on the block, but we've heard worse. Its main fault is limited paper capacity. The paper input tray can only hold up to 250 sheets of...

HP LaserJet 1300 Review

A compact but expandable monochrome laser with sharp 1,200 by 1,200 dpi resolution, Reasonable ($200) premium for Ethernet-print-server model

No automatic duplexing

The USB and parallel ports -- the latter actually a plug-in module for the LIO slot used for the 1300n model's print server -- are at the rear, along with a power switch (call us old-fashioned, but we like printers you can turn off without unplugging,...

HP LaserJet 1022nw

Thanks to the inclusion of integrated 802.11g wireless connectivity you can place HP's Laserjet wherever is most convenient. But as Simon Williams discovers it's a little toner hungry.
