HP Photosmart A826 Snapshot Photo Printer

The advanced features of this snapshot photo printer--such as a touch screen and 5-by-7-inch media handling--might merit the price, but it's still awfully high.

Large, intuitive touch-screen interface ; Takes 4-by-6-inch and 5-by-7-inch media

Slow ; very expensive ; Input tray is awkward

The starter cartridge that comes with the Photosmart A826 can print up to 20 4-by-6-inch photos. The cost per photo beyond that can be reasonable: HP's Value Pack includes enough ink and paper for 120 4-by-6-inch photos and costs $35, or about 29 cents...

Hewlett-Packard HP Photosmart A826

Most snapshot photo printers are basically one-trick ponies, but the HP Photosmart A826 breaks from the herd with its innovative and plentiful features. Unfortunately it's hobbled by a high price and slow print times.

HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center

The HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center is modeled after a retail-store photo kiosk.

Kiosk-style, 7-inch touch screen. Shows photos at 4.2 inches diagonally. Prints 5-by-7s, 4-by-6s, and panoramas up to 4 by 12 inches.

Although quality and speed are both respectable, both are a step below the best available. ; Watch the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center Video Review!

HP Photosmart A826 review: HP Photosmart A826

HP Photosmart A826

Fast, high-quality prints; lots of fun features such as clip art and captions; per-print costs are in line with other snapshot printers' costs; touch screen is easy to use and great for displaying slide shows; menus are logically organized.

Expensive; album options are a bit limited.

The HP Photosmart A826 snapshot printer offers an attractive design, is easy and fun to use, and works better without a PC than any other snapshot printer we've reviewed thanks to its huge touch screen, but we wonder who will spend $250 for a dedicated...

HP Photosmart A826

The A826 can print standard-format photos at sizes up to 5 by 7 inches and panoramas up to 4 by 12 inches. As you would expect from most any dedicated photo printer, it can print from PictBridge cameras and computers, too, but then you don't get to use...

The HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center is literally a home photo kiosk, with a 7-inch touch screen and no need for connecting to a computer.

HP A826 Photosmart Compact Photo Printer

HP's A826 Compact Photo Printer is designed as an easy and fun-to-use, space-saving photo printer. Featuring a nice color touch screen and a housing that looks like something from Wall-E, it at least accomplishes that goal. How is it otherwise?

Compact footprint ; Easy to use ; Good print quality

Rather expensive

Not the best for those who want to print directly from cams/cards. Its strong point is pre-edited images.

Extremely intuitive and innovative user interface ; Attractive kiosk-shaped design

Rounded, smooth design makes printer clumsy to handle ; Dark prints appear flat and dull due to processed blacks

There’s something important to note about the A826: even though it is a compact photo printer, that doesn’t mean it’s portable. Measuring 14.7 by 15.1 by 10.4 inches with its output and paper trays open and ready to use, the A826 is larger than other...
