Lexmark E460dw review: Lexmark E460dw

Lexmark E460dw

Auto-duplexing, built-in wireless print server.

Very expensive; inconsistent print speeds; poor output quality; ugly.

The Lexmark E460dw is an overly priced one-trick pony that produces mediocre prints at an inconsistent pace. Small businesses looking for a single-function monolaser should turn their attention toward the Samsung ML-2851ND instead.

Lexmark E460dn Laser Printer

The Lexmark E460dn monochrome laser printer has the speed and adaptability that a small workgroup needs, plus room to grow. At a midrange price of $599 (as of May 25, 2009), it holds its ground against more-expensive, high-volume competitors such as...

Fast text speed; smooth graphics quality ; Automatic duplexer included

Expensive toner ; Low standard paper capacity

You get great speed and print quality, dimmed by pricey toner and skimpy standard paper capacity.

Lexmark E460DN monochrome laser printer

You get great speed and print quality, but this printer has expensive toner and skimpy paper capacity.

Fast text speed, smooth graphics quality, automatic duplexer included

Expensive toner, low standard paper capacity

The Lexmark E460dn is well designed for small workgroups. It's fast enough to compete with more-expensive monochrome lasers, and it generates pages with first-rate print quality.

Lexmark E460dn review

At a midrange price the Lexmark E460dn holds its ground against more-expensive, high-volume competitors such as the Xerox Phaser 3600N and the Ricoh Aficio SP 4210N.

The Lexmark E460dn is well designed for small workgroups. It's fast enough to compete with more-expensive monochrome lasers, and it generates pages with first-rate print quality.

Consumer review (cnet.com)

"Open your wallets and keep them open!"

I've had my Lexmark printer for what I feel is a short time. In that period, I have printed only a handful of color print jobs due to the obscene cost of color toner. (Current cost is about $80 USD for each of the three colors, $240 USD total.) My...
