Lexmark X3550

The Lexmark X3550 offers a lot for its price, including an inexpensive Wi-Fi option to sweeten the deal.

Wi-Fi option available. Reasonably fast for the price. Prints, scans, and faxes using a PC fax modem. Scans to a PC e-mail program.

Subpar text quality, even for an ink jet. No automatic document feeder. No built-in fax modem.

Lexmark X4550 all-in-one review: Lexmark X4550 all-in-one

Lexmark X4550 all-in-one

Built-in wireless networking; speedy text prints; onboard memory card slots and PictBridge port; good color scans.

Text, graphics, and photo printing need improvement; very slow 4x6 photo prints.

The Lexmark X4550 offers what most all-in-ones in this price range don't: wireless networking. Casual home users who value network-readiness will love that feature, but users who want better print quality will be happier with a different machine.

Lexmark X4550

Think of the Lexmark X4550 as a much-less-expensive AIO, with the built-in Wi-Fi justifying the price.

Built-in Wi-Fi. Prints, scans, faxes using PC fax modem, scans to PC e-mail program. Prints from cameras and memory cards.

Slow. Severely subpar text quality. Relatively low-quality photos for an ink jet.

Lexmark X3550 Multifunction Printer review: Lexmark X3550 Multifunction Printer

Lexmark X3550 Multifunction Printer

Built-in media card slots and USB port; wireless functionality is easy to install; low print costs.

Slow text prints; print and scan quality could use overall improvement, particularly photo prints; wireless costs an additional $50.

The Lexmark X3550 is a middle-of-the-road multifunction printer with an affordable starting price and reasonable ink refill costs. Photo prints leave something to be desired, but it performs the rest of its tasks acceptably well.

Lexmark X2250 All-in-one Printer

The Lexmark X2250 All-in-One is a simple, inexpensive multifunction printer that costs just $100. The most obvious sacrifice it makes to achieve that price: The control panel on the dark, plain case has no LCD. In addition to the power button, it has...

Scanning on the flatbed scanner was also very user-friendly. Touching the scan button on the front panel opens up the All-in-One Center software; there you can indicate the type of document you are scanning, and as a result the software will choose a...

Lexmark X3550

On the surface, the X3550 appears to be a budget workhorse of a printer with the enticing option of wireless connectivity. It's a pity then, that the wireless is so expensive to include, and the printer itself so slow.

Optional Wi-Fi, Cartridge recycling envelope provided

Slow print speeds, Wi-Fi option is expensive

Lexmark X4550

Wi-Fi, Simple to set up

Text quality wasn't sharp, Image quality was average

This is a worthy but slightly dull MFD, enlivened by the presence of Wi-Fi.

Is the presense of wireless enough to make this Lexmark all-in-one a contender?
