Lexmark Z1420 Test Report

This competent printer offers integrated 802.11g for a very low price, but the ink costs dearly.

Built-in 802.11g wireless antenna ; Detailed manuals, friendly driver

Very expensive ink ; Flimsy input and output trays

Lexmark Z1420 review: Lexmark Z1420

Lexmark Z1420

Wireless-ready; fast prints; inexpensive.

Print quality needs a lot of improvement; bundled software has weird limitations.

With its built-in wireless capability, the Lexmark Z1420 looks like a bargain until you see the prints it outputs. If you value print quality, look elsewhere.

No ad-hoc connectivity ; Flimsy paper tray

Works quickly and works well, but there are some annoyances

Lexmark Z1420 Wi-Fi printer

Portability is high on the list of requirements when choosing a printer. The Lexmark Z1420 Wi-Fi printer is lightweight and has a slim design - making it a very portable printer.

Although the Lexmark Z1420 Wi-Fi printer is inexpensive and easy to use, we are surprised at the lack of such features as PictBridge support and memory card slots. Even if some of the Wi-Fi facilities are being used, we still suspect many a user will...

Lexmark Z1420

The Lexmark Z1420 offers wireless printing at a bargain price, but when it comes to print quality, you get what you pay for.

Affordable ; Built-in 802.11b/g wireless technology ; Speedy output

Flimsy build quality ; Unimpressive prints

The Z1420 includes a one-year replacement warranty. Technical support is available via e-mail and telephone, although hours are not specified. Lexmark's Web site offers drivers, downloads and a knowledge base for a wide selection of printers across its...

Lexmark Z1420

One of the neatest features on Lexmark's Z1420 is that it comes with 802.11g and 802.11b compatible wireless built in. This is handy for the growing number of people who prefer to work purely from a laptop. Not having to plug it into a single computer...

Wireless networking, stylish Mac-friendly casing, decent print quality

Quite slow printing speed, flimsy construction, software is basic and isn't designed for the Mac

Even though both the CDs are labelled as being for Windows PCs, we were able to load drivers using these CDs on a Mac, which gave us access to basic maintenance tasks such as nozzle cleaning.
