Brother MFC-295cn Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Fax and Networking

If you rely heavily on your printer for big jobs, this Brother inkjet printer may not be for you. In our tests, it was slow, had frequent delays, and the control panel wasn't very intuitive. Features include: document feeder and borderless printing....

Brother MFC-295CN [Review]

This network-enabled photo MFD is as suitable for home as it is for office

Good print quality in normal mode, fast print speeds in fast mode, decent scanner, Ethernet, decent looks, good bundled software, standalone Fax

Slightly skewed text prints in the fast mode, reddish hue in photo prints

BAD

OH brother... Don't even bother with this piece of garbage..

I printed 5 pages out of this thing =D

then it was empty on ink. Meanwhile, i look for ink in the cartridge, and what do you know, there's PLENTY of it ; Prints in color, but not black

Brother--More Like, 'Bother'

I bought this in spite of it's ridiculously low price, due to some familiarity with Brother printers having pretty good color correctness. I bought some aftermarket ink hoping to safely refill the stock ink carts with it. Maybe that'll help.

Good speed (at normal quality) ; Precise sheet feeding ; Good resolution ; LAN & USB can be used simultaneously

Washed-out printing (especially warmer tones like red) ; NOTE: 'Internet Hearsay'--In my research, I found many independent online reviews that report that you have to have ink in the black ink cart to make the others print ; Other experience with...

Generic Ink

This is a mediocre device, EXCEPT you can get CHEAP generic ink carts. For this and Linux support, I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

Accepts Cheap Generic Ink Refills ; Linux Drivers

Slow ; Scanning options are limited

Budget MFC. Watch out Mac.

If scanning is a serious thing and you own a mac, consider others. I dont ever scan to my computer so to me it does not matter. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out that was causing the slowdown. An average Mac user would never figure it out.

Prints at decent speeds. Ability to use aftermarket carts. Does scanning well. Lots of options for price point

Mac scanning engine that was installed on my macbook by the CD makes my processor pin at 100% all the time. Not aware of a fix yet

Great Printer for the Price Point!

I needed a printer becuase it just wasn't worth replacing ink for my old one. (Lexmark Z705) I chose this model for it's simplicity. I'm no big fan of onboard touch sreens, in my opinion it just leads to more that can go wrong later ; The design is...

No cons yet. I personally tested all functions and this printer performs to expectations

Ink Scam

Too bad, if the ink tanks were LC51bk,c,m,y they would have been a excellent deal, .79 per ml but alas, that was previous years tanks and since the volume isnt printed on the carton or anywhere, they could pinch you without you knowing because the...

I considered buying this MFC-295cn ; But didn't ; see Cons

Before I purchase a printer, I evaluate the cost of the ink not page yield On 6-30-10 I called Brother directly 1-877-552-6255 and got Tiffany in tech support and asked, "what is the ml in the LC61bk and LC61c,m,y tanks? after being on hold for 7...

Brother MFC series MFC-295CN Up to 33 ppm 6000 x 1200 dpi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Haven't used the fax yet. The kids love it for school reports and the replacement carterages are inexpensive.

Works great, easy to use even independent of my computer. Inexpensive cartrage replacement. Great for reports, etc

Color reproduction on pictures is a bit dull, but for the

Excellent printer

Bought 2 of these for other people and they both were impressed. So when it came time to spend another $50 on carts for my HP pig, I thought I would get this new Brother unit (which includes carts) for less than $50! And FREE shipping. Thank you Newegg!

Good print quality, quiet operation, fast print speeds, nice looking all in one unit in a relatively small footprint

None so far
