Canon Pixma MX420

The Canon Pixma MX420 lies in that tricky-to-shop-in, midpriced range of color inkjet multifunction printers. Costing just $150 (as of April 6, 2011), it offers print, copy, scan, and fax capabilities, but certain missing features limit it to...

Automatic document feeder ; Easy-to-use design

Duplexing is manual and PC-only ; Expensive black ink

Fax capabilities come cheaply in the MX420, but meager paper handling and costly black ink limit this model to low-volume use.

Canon Pixma MX420 Wireless Inkjet Office All-in-One

The Canon Pixma MX420 Wireless Inkjet Office All-in-One provides a solid set of features for a home or micro office, or dual use as a household and home-office MFP.

Good feature set. Fax and ADF. Ethernet and WiFi connectivity.

Relatively slow for the price. Mediocre output quality.

Review: Canon Pixma MX420 printer offers fax on the cheap

Fax capabilities come cheaply in the MX420, but meager paper handling and costly black ink limit this model to low-volume use.

Setup on the Windows platform was easy. USB, ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity are available. The only hitch occurred during Mac installation, which presented us with two separate entries in the Add Printer dialog box: one listed as Bonjour-connected...

Canon PIXMA MX420

A trimmed down version of Canon's small office all-in-ones, matched by a suitably trimmed down price. Can it still better the competition?

Integrated ADF gives smart look, Easy-to-use, large-screen LCD, Wireless connection

No duplex print, Single tray for plain and photo paper, Above average running costs

Canon PIXMA MX420 review

While the MX420's mono print costs are disappointing, it's otherwise a good value MFP that's well suited for the home office.

The Canon Pixma MX420 lies in that tricky-to-shop-in, midpriced range of colour inkjet multifunction printers. Costing just £129, it offers print, copy, scan, and fax capabilities, but certain missing features limit it to low-volume small or home...

For light use in a home office, the Canon Pixma MX420 is a decent buy - especially if you stick with draft mode most of the time. But it remains a feature or two shy of multifunction perfection. If you want more features and speed, or better ink costs,...

Canon Pixma MX420

Canon's latest wireless all-in-one Pixma printer trims the fat off the bigger multi-function centres with its sleek package, but is the asking price too high for this mid-range photo printer?

Just What Was Needed

My parents have the big brother to this printer, but I didn't want to spend as much. After using both theirs and mine, I think this is a fantastic value. Great color prints, fast, wireless, and convenient. I don't fax often, but at this price, why not...
