Samsung CLX-2160N Color Laser Multifunction Printer Review

One of things that has been holding me back from investing in a multifunction laser printer is the fact that these things are typically pretty gargantuan, especially if you want a laser printer with color. These machines…

Great color reproduction and decent speed ; Unique USB quick access port ; Easy setup and installation ; Large toner cartridges are easy to replace ; Network ready

Can get quite warm and loud ; Warmup time can be annoying ; Small paper tray and output tray ; Feels very large for most consumers

Compact size, good speed

Text output isn't quite as crisp as on the best lasers, Has a skimpy paper catch, Paper curl

Mostly a very good MFD for the money, the CLX-2160N offers good quality, features, and performance at this level. It's a shame it's marred by the slightly skimpy paper catch and paper curl.

Samsung - CLX-2160N

Samsung has taken its newly-designed colour laser engine, first seen in the CLP-300, and built it into this highly-compact all-in-one machine. The company has managed to incorporate a full A4 flatbed scanner onto the top of ...

There are pros and cons to this novel laser all-in-one. It's conveniently small, very easy to maintain and has extra functions such as ID Copy that could prove handy. Against these advantages, though, it's quite expensive to run and the print quality...

Samsung CLX-2160N

Colour inkjet multi-functional devices aren't quite ten-a-penny, but the starting price is well under £100 and there are dozens of models to choose from. By comparison, colour laser printers with built-in scanners are scarce

Dynamic and crisp, Good detail, Strong construction, Small and lightweight, Standalone photocopying

Mixed printing results

Convenient, but print quality could be better

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Failed in 45 days, don't trust Samsung warranty

Just past NewEgg warranty, it failed while printing what was no more than the 200th page. After that, it would start a periodic "hammering" inside the unit when you try to print and during warm up. After going round and round with Samsung tech support,...

Very easy setup, very convenient, and nice print quality; when it worked

Failed in 45 days. Since then Samsung has wasted 2 weeks and hours of my time so far, and it still isn't resolved
