Samsung CLX-3185FW

The CLX-3185FW includes a 15-sheet automatic document feeder, 256MB of memory and a 360MHz processor

Although it boasts a number of novel extras the Samsung struggles with the basics in terms of performance and bread-and-butter features.

Samsung CLX-3185FW Color Laser Multi-function Printer

The world has come to demand a lot from a printer, in the past all we cared about was how fast the printer was able to spit out pages but now we demand manufacturers to integrate scanning, faxing, copying and much more.

Fast ; Easy to use software ; Wireless networking

Expensive ; Two line display interface needs improvement ; Autofeeder jams with heavy load

While the tone of the review over the last section was hardly the closest thing to glowing, I think we should all take a step back for a second. While I did have a lot of criticism for the unit and found a number of features annoying, it should also be...

Samsung CLX-3185FW

A colour laser multifunction printer with fax, for under £300. That's a good start.

Samsung provides drivers for Windows, OS X and various Linux distributions, including Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE and Fedora. If you're a Windows user, you also get a copy of ReadIRIS Pro OCR software.

Samsung - CLX-3185FW

Colour laser multifunction printers still normally attract a substantial price premium, but Samsung has always produced a good range of machines at more reasonable prices. The CLX-3185FW scrapes in under £300 and - at least on ...

This is a well presented small and home office colour multifunction printer that includes the option of direct printing from its front-panel USB ports, as well as fax facilities, though it does have some shortcomings - not least its limited paper...

SAMSUNG CLX-3185FW

I literally had my Canon printer hooked to my wireless router for two years without a single problem, but no go for this Sam-Suck printer, it won't even stay connected for a day!

Update To First Review - A day later ; I have to drop one egg for the wireless issue listed below ; As I said in my first review, a decent printer for the price

Loses the wireless connection. This is not acceptable as far as I'm concerned, because it's one of the top reasons that I bought this thing ; So if you add up the extreme power spike during warm up, the slowness while waiting for the first page to...

Nice For Da' Price!

It's alittle slow coming on line - as far as the warm-up time goes, and it does dim my office lights when it first starts up; but I expected some compromises with a color laser of this price. NOTE! Do not plug this into a UPS. I plugged it into a Power...

Easy Installation, Connected to my D-Link Router with no issues ; and it has decent print quality for a cheap color laser

Draws quite a bit of power when warming up - like 800w plus ; Smells like burnt ozone! I had a toaster oven that had the same smell when I accidentally melted a plastic tray in it

Good price but about to bring out the sledgehammer

I have other Samsung products that work great. The problem with this one seems to be the software. You should take this review with a grain of salt - this is the first piece of computer equipment I've ever reviewed, just because I'm so frustrated with...

Works well as a copier. Great price from Newegg - $274.99 with free shipping

Bought this last April. Similar problems to reiththestud and PC Solutions below. Really had trouble installing it on the wireless network. Finally gave up and used a cable. Seems like I have to fool around with it for an hour to get the computer to...

firmware update will block oem toner cartridges

I have learned a good lesson on printers and will do better research when buying the next one. Shame on you samsung!

size footprint for multifunction

If you plan on using oem toner, Samsung updates their firmware so you must use only their toner. This is the first laser I've used that forces us to buy only their brand of toner. Forget the initial price if there gonna gouge you for the life of the...

Great buy

Perfect for my home office purposes - occasional printing, occasional copying, rare scanning. I didn't want to go inkjet and always worry about replacing dried out cartridges, or just the fact that inkjet-printed text documents look poor. Having...

Best features for the money - under $400 for a color laser MFC that works well. I plugged into my network, downloaded & installed Samsung drivers, and was up and running within 10 minutes. Print and scan quality are more than acceptable for a unit of...

First unit had a defective spring in the copier auto-feeder. Plastic construction is a quite flimsy, cheap feeling - you're almost afraid the weight of the unit will fracture the plastic when you pick it up with your hands. I've yet to get the...

Scanner Locked - DOA

Liked the price, and looked sleek. Really wanted it to workout.

Good price

DOA! Screen says scanner locked but research, confirmed by samsung, says there is no scanner lock on this model. Rep from Samsung asked me to search for the scanner lock for 30 mins, then told me manual doesn't say anything about a scanner lock
