BenQ MP512 ST review: BenQ MP512 ST

BenQ MP512 ST

Extremely affordable; relatively deep black levels for an entry-level projector.

Color accuracy leaves a bit to be desired; short on features; resolution too low for serious home theater use; not ideal for screen sizes larger than 92 inches wide.

Priced less than a midsize flat-screen LCD TV, BenQ's MP512 ST DLP projector is a solid, affordable option for people who want a big screen for casual use or gaming.

BenQ MP512 ST DLP Projector

Want the big screen experience, but without the big screen expense? BenQ has the answer.

should be a top priority for anyone thinking of buying the MP512 - or any projector for that matter. Even BenQ seems to agree, because neither the remote, nor the projector's top-mounted controls offer a volume function.

BenQ MP512 ST review

If you own a Nintendo Wii, this could be the ideal projector with which to partner it.

Love the BenQ Projector

Recently opened up a restaurant and is planning to purchase 2 more of these projectors for the place.

Bright, and easy to set up. Looked around for a projector and you can't beat the price. This short throw Projector works great with my PS3, Laptop and Sling box. I love to watch Sports in this projector. Very light and can take it anywhere

Not a HD product athough it has an HDMI input. It still looks great

Amazing projector!

For the price it can't be beat. Projecting a huge screen from such a short distance is amazing.

Great DVD quality picture. I have mine on a coffee table about 5 feet from the screen and have a 64" picture. Very quiet and has lots of picture adjustments. Has HDMI , s video and rca inputs.

It's 800 x 600 so you won't get the full hd effect. However it does take hd input (by way of HDMI) then scales it down to 800x600. The built in speakers are acceptable but not great (they can easily be turned off).

You won't want to put it away!!

I usually entertain several people on a regular basis, the short throw allows us to move about the room without casting shadows on the screen. The large screen size allows us to sit wherever we want in the room and assures that we will all be able to...

The first thing you'll notice when you get this projector up and running, is just how much of a short throw distance this has. The first few times you use it you will probably overestimate the amount of distance needed to be able to fill your wall or...

Like all low resolution projectors, the "Screen door" effect is very noticeable since you will get a large image at such a small distance. This is something to expect from all low resolution projectors, however, it was a lot more noticeable than I...

Small & Fun Projector

I recommend you match a projector with the quality of the rest of your home audio system. If you have $10,000 invested in your system already, by all means, match it with a real home theater projector. If you've got a simple box store surround audio...

The short throw and price of this projector are its selling points. At 6' from a wall I am getting an 8' image. Try getting a 96" TV of any type at this price point! I am using it for business and HTPC purposes

800x600 resolution isn't really high def, and large projections viewed close up show pixels accordingly. And while having high def would help, this phenomenon is largely a function of how close you sit to a screen vs. how big the screen is. Smaller...

Way too short throw

Bright, High quality picture, very nice projector, lots of configuration options

The picture from a distance of 20 feet created a picture on my wall that was way too big. No option for adjusting the picture size

Excellent product.

First projector, simple setup. Great price point. Can't lose. Of course I had to connect it to my gaming system, Battlefield 2 never looked so good;

This is a superb product. I use it with an ASUS EEE 901 for showing robust PowerPoint presentations and it works beautifully. Had no problem setting it up. My first projection was on a brown wall - the whites were beautiful and the blacks were.. well,...

Would be nice to have a carrying case but that would be definitely asking for the moon at this price. And a $100 rebate? I was surprised to see it included cables at this price, but it does.
